Managing Web Account Roles

The RSE6500 provides the following roles: System administrator, Media administrator, Personal media administrator, Advanced user, Common user, and Guest. Each role has different operation rights.
Table 2-4 describes the roles and their operation rights.

Changing the Web Account Password

The system forces you to change your password at your initial login. After the password change at your initial login, you can click the login user name at the upper right corner of a page to enter the personal information modification page to change your password. To ensure account security, it is recommended that you change the RSE6500 login password periodically.
  1. In the navigation on the left, choose Personal Info > Change Password.

    The Change Password page is displayed.

  2. Enter the current login password in Old password, enter your new password in New password and Confirm password, and click Modify.

    The new password must meet the following requirements:
    • The new password must be a string of 8 to 32 characters.
    • The new password cannot be the same as the user name or the user name in reverse order.
    • The new password must be different from the old password.
    • The new password must consist of two types of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, and special characters. The special characters contain the following and the space character:

      ! " # $ % & ' ( ) * + , - . / : ; < = > ? @ [ ]\ ^ ` { _ | } ~

    NOTE:
    The password change function will be locked for 5 minutes if you have entered incorrect old passwords for five consecutive times. The system automatically unlocks the function 5 minutes later.

Changing the Password for Logging In Using the Serial Port, SSH, or Telnet

To ensure account security, it is recommended that you change the RSE6500 login password periodically.
  • The super administrator can change the login passwords of administrators and common users.
  • Administrators can change the passwords of their own and common users.
  1. Log in to RSE6500 through PuTTY as the admin user.
  2. Enter passwd username and press Enter.

    For example, if you want to change the admin user's password, enter passwd admin. The following information is displayed:

  3. Type the current password and press Enter.
  4. Type the new password and confirm password and press Enter.

    The new password must meet the following requirements:
    • The new password must be a string of 8 to 32 characters.
    • The new password cannot be the same as the user name or the user name in reverse order.
    • The new password must be different from the old password.
    • The new password must consist of two types of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, and special characters. The special characters contain the following and the space character:
