Destroying User Data Safely

User data that is stored on devices must be destroyed when the devices are repaired or discarded.


Hard disk data includes device and certificate configuration data. After the data is destroyed, the data including the operating system is initialized.


  1. Connect the RED5.0 board to the serial port of the PC, open the serial port tool, and set the attributes of the serial port, as shown in Figure 6-17.

  2. During the process startup, press Delete until the BIOS menu is displayed.

    On the Advanced tab page, select Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology and press Enter, as shown in Figure 6-18.

  3. On the RAID menu, press Enter, as shown in Figure 6-19.

  4. Select Delete, press Enter, and then select yes, as shown in Figure 6-20.

  5. Select Create RAID Volume, create a RAID group, and press Enter, as shown in Figure 6-21.

  6. Set the RAID attributes by pressing arrow keys, as shown in Figure 6-22.
