Router Security Inspection

Router Security Inspection

You must periodically check router security to ensure security of the data packets that the CloudEC on-premises conference-only solution receives.

Checking Router Login Password

To access the Boot main menu, you must enter the Boot ROM password. The initial password is blank. If you consecutively enter three incorrect passwords, the router automatically restarts. To prevent unauthorized login, you must access the Boot main menu to change the Boot ROM password.

If the Boot ROM password or user password is lost, contact Huawei technical support engineers.

Checking Application Files

The router provides the dual image function. With this function, the following application files used for router startup are defined by default:

  • Master application file

The default file name is main.bin, and the file type is M. The master application file is used to start the router by default.

  • Backup application file

The default file name is backup.bin, and the file type is B. If router startup using the master application file fails, the backup application file is used to start the router.

  • Security application file

The default file name is secure.bin, and the file type is S. If router startup using the backup application file fails, the security application file is used to start the router. If router startup still fails, a message indicating router startup failure is displayed.

You must periodically access the Boot main menu to check the application files. Modify application files in time if they are configured incorrectly. When checking application files, pay attention to the following points:

  • The type of application files used for router startup must be M, B, or S.
  • Names of application files in flash memories can be changed by running corresponding commands after application startup. File types of application files whose values of Type are M, B, or N/A can be changed on Boot ROM menus or by running corresponding commands after application startup. The security application file type cannot be changed.
  • Security application files cannot be converted from other types of application files. You must download the security application file from the Boot ROM menu, and the security application file name must be secure.bin. If the security application file name is changed, no security application file is available in flash memories.
  • Only one application file corresponding to each of the M, B, and S types can exist in flash memories at the same time. For example, if an application file's type is M+B, no application file of the M or B type can exist. If another application file's type is changed to B, the application file type M+B is automatically changed to M.
NOTE:

Perform the preceding operations by referring to the router installation guide of the matching version.
