Client Login Failure After the Floating IP Address of the OMU Is Changed

Symptom

After the floating IP address of the OMU is changed, you cannot log in to the client, as shown in Figure 6-35.

Possible Causes

  • The IP address of the PC and the modified floating IP address are not in the same network segment.
  • The default gateway or the subnet mask (for an IPv4 address)/prefix length (for an IPv6 address) is incorrectly configured.
  • The OMU services cannot be started because the floating IP address conflicts with the IP address of the operating network (confirmed by the enterprise).
  • The IP address of Server on the login interface of the client is inconsistent with the modified floating IP address.

Fault Diagnosis

None.

Procedure

  1. Check whether the IP address of the PC, modified floating IP address of the OMU are in the same network segment.
  2. Use the PuTTY tool to log in to the VM running the OMU as user "cgpexpert".
  3. Run su - root to switch to user root.
  4. Run setomuip -list. Then, check whether the values of IP address, IP subnet mask/IP prefix length, and IP default gateway are the same as those planned by the enterprises.

    The output of setomuip -list is as follows:

    The float IP information is as follows
     IP address         =  172.16.8.8
     IP subnet mask     =  255.255.0.0
     IP default gateway =  172.16.0.1
    
    • Yes: Go to 5.
    • No: Go to 6.

  5. Check whether the value of IP address (in output of setomuip - list) conflicts with the existing IP addresses.

    • Yes: Go to 6.
    • No: Go to 8.

  6. Change the floating IP address of the OMUs by running the following command:

    setomuip -float [floating IP address] [subnet mask/prefix length] [default gateway]

    The script example is as follows:

    setomuip -float 172.16.5.143 255.255.0.0 172.16.0.1

    setomuip -float 2001:db8:1::1 64 2001:db8:1::254

    NOTE:

    If Subnet Mask/Prefix Length and Default Gateway are not set, the system retains the original values of Subnet Mask/Prefix Length and Default Gateway.

    The output is as follows:
    The new floating IP address configuration is as follows. Please check whether it is correct.

    Address:172.16.5.143, Subnet Mask:255.255.0.0, Default Gateway:172.16.0.1.

    1. Type yes to continue the operation. All the services running on the OMU will be stopped.
    2. Type no to cancel the operation.
    Please input your choice[Yes, No]:

  7. After confirming that the output is correct, type Y and press Enter.

    Wait about 1 minute. If the following information is displayed, the floating IP address of the OMUs is successfully changed. Then, proceed to 10.

    NOTICE: STEP2:Stopping the OMU services ......
    NOTICE: STEP3:Preparing to set the IP address ......
    NOTICE: STEP4:The IP address is successfully set. Preparing to start services ..
    ....
    NOTICE: End: The IP address is successfully set. Services are being started. You
     can run the omustatus command to check the startup status of processes.

  8. Check whether the IP address of Server on the login interface is the same as IP address in the output of setomuip -list.

    • Yes: Go to 11.
    • No: Go to 9.

  9. Change the IP address of Server to the value of IP address in the output of setomuip -list. Then, log in to the client again.

    • Yes: The fault handling is complete.
    • No: Go to 11.

  10. After two minutes, log in to the client again. Then, check whether the login is successful.

    • Yes: The fault handling is complete.
    • No: Go to 11.

  11. Contact Huawei technical support engineers to rectify the fault.
