Login and Registration Fault

Login and Registration Fault

Symptom

In the ECS environment that uses the uPortal for authentication, the login fails on clients. When the cause of disconnection between clients and the uPortal is ruled out, the message "Server connection timed out. Check the network settings." is still displayed on clients. The eServer may fail to interwork with the uPortal.

Figure 9-1 Server connection failure

Possible Causes

The possible causes are as follows:

  • The IP address of the eServer is not added to the whitelist on the uPortal.
  • The uPortal interworking IP address (or domain name) is not configured on the BMU, or the current uPortal IP address carried in the token is not in the interworking IP address list.
  • The uPortal interworking IP address configured on the BMU does not match the token addressing mode configured on the uPortal.
  • A link problem exists between the eServer and the currently selected uPortal server. (The eServer tries to connect to a uPortal server for up to two times. Generally, no link problem exists.)

Troubleshooting Method

Generally, uPortal interworking problems are caused by incorrect configurations. Check related configurations based on the network requirements.

If network problems occur or the uPortal service crashes, corresponding environment alarms will be generated in the HUAWEI Operation & Maintenance System.

Procedure

  1. Verify that the IP address of the eServer is added to the whitelist on the uPortal.
  2. Verify that USM Address is correctly set on the Interconnection > USM Interconnection page of the BMU. If a DNS server is used, check related configurations.
  3. Verify that the uPortal interworking IP address configured on the BMU matches the token addressing mode configured on the uPortal. Currently, you cannot set the uPortal interworking IP address to an IP address while setting the token addressing mode to domain name.
  4. Check related environment alarms in the HUAWEI Operation & Maintenance System.
