Fault Location

Background Information

Audio and video faults always occur together, or the fault causes are similar.

The possible causes for audio and video faults are as follows:

  • The versions of the MCU and terminal do not match.
  • The audio and video cables on the terminal are not properly connected.
  • The audio and video configuration on the terminal is incorrect.
  • The bit streams sent from the terminal to the MCU are not supported by the decoding protocol of the MCU.
  • The bit streams sent from the MCU to the terminal are not supported by the decoding protocol of the terminal.
  • Network packet loss or network QoS policy faults exist.

Locating the Fault

  1. Verify that the network is properly connected.
  2. Verify that the versions of the MCU and terminal do not match.
  3. Verify that the video source or cable matches the input or output port on the terminal. Check whether the cable is too long, adapter cable is faulty, or ports are faulty.
  4. Verify that the terminal cannot send or receive audio and video.
  5. Verify that audio and video capabilities fail to be negotiated.
  6. Verify that the MCU DSP hardware is faulty or alarms exist on it.
  7. Verify that the MCU media stream is properly transmitted.
  8. Capture network audio and video packets to locate the fault cause.
