System Displays "Downloading 7z tools fail" During the Client Installation Using JWS

Symptom

When you use the JWS to install the OMU client, the system displays Downloading 7z tools fail.

NOTE:
The 7-Zip is a tool for free and used to compress and decompress files in multiple formats. The current version in use is 7-Zip 4.65. For details about the 7-Zip tool, access http://www.7-zip.org/.

Possible Causes

  • The network quality is poor.
  • Security software such as antivirus software prevents files from being transmitted.
  • The firewall prevents files from being transmitted.
  • The security level of the browser is too high.
  • The Windows OS patch may not be correctly installed.

Fault Diagnosis

  • Check the security setting of the firewall, antivirus software and browser.
  • Check whether there is the Windows OS patch that has not been installed.

Procedure

    Check whether security software such as antivirus software is running properly.

    1. Choose Start > Run. The Run dialog box is displayed. Then, type msconfig in the dialog box and click OK. The System Configuration dialog box is displayed.

      NOTE:
      Windows 7 is used as an example for OS-related procedure.

    2. Check whether the security software, such as antivirus software and network detection software, are available in the list of the Service tab page in the System Configuration window.

      • Yes: Go to 3.
      • No: Go to 4.

    3. In the Service tab page, deselect security software, such as antivirus software and network detection software, and click OK. Then, go to 4.

    Check whether the firewall is enabled.

    1. Choose Start > Control Panel > Windows Firewall. The Windows Firewall window is displayed.
    2. Check whether the firewall is enabled.

      • Yes: Go to 6.
      • No: Go to 7.

    3. Select Off (not recommended) and click OK. Then, go to 7.

    Check the security level of the browser.

    1. Start the Internet Explorer, and choose Tools > Internet Options. The Internet Options window is displayed.
    2. Choose Security > Internet > Custom Level. The Security Settings dialog box is displayed. Change the security level to Medium High or lower, and go to 9.

      NOTE:
      For details about how to set the security level of other browsers, see the operation guide of those browsers.

    Check whether there is the Windows OS patch that has not been installed.

    1. Check whether there is the Windows OS patch that has not been installed.

      • Yes: Go to 10.
      • No: Go to 11.

    2. Install the security-related patch prompted by the system.
    3. Restart your PC and check whether the OMU client can be installed by using JWS.

      • Yes: No further action is required.
      • No: Go to 12.

    Collect log information and contact technical support engineers for assistance.

    1. Collect the following information:

      • Client logs: The client logs are stored in the Installation path of the client\omu\workspace1\client\tracefile directory. In addition, you can use the Log Information Collection tool on the LMT to collect logs about the LMT for fault location.
      • OMU server logs: Use the Information Collection Tool to collect items in Common fault analysis scenario.

    2. Contact Huawei technical support engineers.
