Communication Failure Between the OMU and the Host

Symptom

  • On the Device Panel of the client, the process indicator of a configured board is gray.
  • Running an MML command on the client times out. For example, running DSP MODULE in the MML Command - CGP window of the client fails.

Possible Causes

  • The network connection is interrupted.
  • The network configuration is incorrect.

Fault Diagnosis

  • Check whether the OMU services are operating properly.
  • Check whether the communication over a single plane between the OMU and other hosts fails.
  • Check whether the communication between the OMU board and other hosts fails.

Procedure

    Check whether the OMU services are operating properly.

    1. In the MML Command - CGP window of the client, run DSP OMU to check whether OMU base info is HA mode.

      • Yes: Go to 2.
      • No: Go to 3.

    2. Check whether OMU status for one OMU is Active, and for the other is Standby.

      • Yes: Go to 4.
      • No: Go to 10.

    3. Check whether OMU status is Active.

      • Yes: Go to 4.
      • No: Go to 10.

    4. Check whether Resource state of the DCM process of the active OMU is Activated.

      • Yes: Go to 6.
      • No: Go to 5.

    5. Use PuTTY to log in to the active OMU as user omu, and then run stop_dcm;start_dcm to restart the DCM process. After the DCM process is restarted, check whether its status is running.

      • Yes: Go to 6.
      • No: Go to 10.

    Check whether the communication over a single plane between the OMU and other hosts fails.

    1. Check whether ALM-9519 Single Plane Between OMU and Host Faulty is present in the Browse Alarms window of the LMT or on the Active Alarms page on the OMU Web portal. You can choose Maintenance > Active Alarms on the OMU Web portal to proceed to the Active Alarms page.

      • Yes: Go to 7.
      • No: Go to 8.

    2. Rectify the fault by following the procedure for handling ALM-9519 Single Plane Between OMU and Host Faulty. Check whether this issue is resolved.

      • Yes: Go to 8.
      • No: Go to 10.

    Check whether the communication between the OMU board and other hosts fails.

    1. Check whether ALM-9520 Communication Failure Between the OMU and Host is present in the Browse Alarms window of the LMT or on the Active Alarms page on the OMU Web portal. You can choose Maintenance > Active Alarms on the OMU Web portal to proceed to the Active Alarms page.

      • Yes: Go to 9.
      • No: Go to 10.

    2. Rectify the fault by following the procedure for handling ALM-9520 Communication Failure Between the OMU and Host. Check whether this issue is resolved.

      • Yes: No further action is required.
      • No: Go to 10.

    Collect the relevant information.

    1. Use the Information Collection Tool to collect items in Common fault analysis scenario.
    2. Contact Huawei technical support engineers to rectify the fault.
