Rich Media Faults

Rich Media Faults

Failed to Upload Rich Media Files

Symptom

Rich media files of a specified type fail to be uploaded. A message indicating a sending failure or timeout is displayed, and no other sending status notification is displayed.

Possible Causes

The file type is added as a forbidden type in the Client Management > Client Parameters > File transfer parameters > forbitfileext parameter on the BMU.

Figure 9-28 File transfer parameters
Troubleshooting Method

Clients receive the status code returned by the UMServer and display the corresponding operation notification. However, if clients fail to synchronize parameter settings from the BMU, clients cannot process the status code indicating that file transfer is forbidden.

Procedure
  1. Check UMServer service logs. If the message "client preupload file Type is forbiden. fileName" is displayed, the file type is forbidden.

UMServer service log file path: /opt/eSpace_UC/eSpace_UC_Server/Logs/UMServer/umserver.log

  2. If the file type is forbidden, modify the Client Management > Client Parameters > File transfer parameters > forbitfileext parameter on the BMU to remove the file type.

Failed to Download Rich Media Files

Symptom

Rich media files fail to be downloaded. The message "Area restriction. Some members fail to receive messages." is displayed.

Figure 9-29 Area restriction 01
Figure 9-30 Area restriction 02
Possible Causes

Area restriction is configured for the areas of the sender and recipient.

Troubleshooting Method

Remove the area restriction configured for the areas of the sender and recipient.

Procedure

Area restriction applies to areas instead of users. The area restriction is removable in either of the following ways:

  • The recipient switches to a non-restricted area and receives the rich media files.
  • Modify the area control policy by referring to Special Tasks > Rights- and Domain-based Management in the product documentation.
