OMU Service Startup Failure

Symptom

  • The standby OMU restarts repeatedly.
  • Two active OMUs exist.

Possible Causes

The active OMU is powered off or fault when the database being rebuilt.

Fault Diagnosis

To determine whether the OMUs are in active state, perform the following operations:

Log in to the two OMUs by using the PuTTY tool, and then run QueryMirrorState to query the status of the OMUs as user root. View the command outputs to check whether the value of LOCAL_STATE is Activating or Active and the value of REMOTE_STATE is Unknown or Breakdown. If yes, it indicates that the two OMUs are in active state.

Procedure

  1. Log in to one of the two OMUs as user cgpexpert by using the PuTTY tool.
  2. Run su - root to switch to user root.
  3. Run displayOMU to check whether the database is started. If the command output shows that the value of the Resource Type parameter is Database and that of the Resource state parameter is Activated, it indicates that the database is started.

    • Yes: Go to 4.
    • No: Go to 5.

  4. Run omustatus to check whether the OMU services are started.

    • Yes: Go to 7.
    • No: Go to 8.

  5. Run ls -l /opt/HUAWEI/cgp/workshop/omu/data/pg_valid.ident to check whether the pg_valid.ident file exists.

    • Yes: Go to 8.
    • No: Go to 6.

  6. Restore the OMU by referring to OMU Restoration.
  7. Run displayOMU to check whether OMU services on two VMs are running properly.

    • Yes: Go to No further action is required.
    • No: Go to 8.

  8. Check whether you have performed operation from 3 to 7 on two OMUs.

    • Yes: Go to 10.
    • No: Go to 9.

  9. Start PuTTY to log in to the other OMU as user cgpexpert, then switch to user root, and perform 3 to 7.
  10. Contact Huawei technical support engineers to rectify the fault.
