System Displays "Application Blocked by Security Settings" During JWS Installation


This section takes JRE 1.7 as an example to describe the problem and the handling procedure.

During the installation of the Java Web Start (JWS), the system displays the message "Application Blocked by Security Settings", as shown in Figure 6-5.

Possible Causes

Java security settings are not configured on the Java runtime environment (JRE) installed on the PC.

Fault Diagnosis

Check the Java security settings on the PC.


    1. On the PC running the HUAWEI Operation & Maintenance System, open the Control Panel. Then, click the Java icon to display the Java Control Panel dialog box.
    2. Click the Security tab, select Enable Java content in the browser, and set the Security Level to Medium, as shown in Figure 6-6.

      If the Medium option does not exist, you do not need to set the Security Level.

    3. Click Edit Site List. The Exception Site List dialog box is displayed. Click Add, enter the IP address which was blocked, as illustrated in Figure 6-7 or Figure 6-8, and then click OK.

    4. Click OK to save the settings, as shown in Figure 6-9 or Figure 6-10.

    5. Delete the temporary files generated by the browser. Restart the browser and open the JWS page. Check whether the JWS installation can be continued.

      • Yes: No further action is required.
      • No: Go to 6.

    6. Capture and save the full-screen snapshots of Figure 6-5 and Figure 6-6.
    7. Contact Huawei technical support engineers.
