Replacing a Power Cable

Replacing a Power Cable

This section describes the procedure for replacing a power cable.

Before replacing a power cable, note the following:

  • Ensure that service data is backed up before replacing a power cable.

  • Before operating the device, make sure to cut off all input power supplies to the power distribution cabinet, and label the switch to be used.

  • The DC power cable terminals and other exposed surfaces must be fully insulated.

Before replacing a power cable, you need the following tools:

  • Power module terminal

  • Power cable

  • ESD wrist strap

  • Phillips screwdriver

  1. Record the location of both ends of the power cable to be replaced and the cabling mode.
  2. Make a new power cable. For details, refer to On-site Cable Assembly and Installation.
  3. Loosen the screws on the terminal of the power module with a wrench. Then, remove the terminal. Pull out the power cable from the guide-in hole on the cabinet.
  4. Install the power cable. Pass the new power cable through the guide-in hole on the cabinet, and connect the terminal of the power module to the input terminal of the power module in the power distribution cabinet. Then, tighten the setscrews with a wrench.
  5. Make new labels according to the contents of the labels on the old power cable. For label regulations, refer to the Engineering Labels for Cables.

Follow-up Procedure

  • Gather up and store the tools and the old cable.
  • Separate the old and new cables to avoid confusion.
