SPUs and SPCs

SPUs are responsible for security service processing.

NIP-SPU-A

The NIP-SPU-A is a motherboard used in the NIP6830. By default, it does not have any service processing capability and must be used together with subcards. The board has two slots, and each slot can house a NIP service acceleration card or an IPS service processing card.

The NIP-SPU-A goes into the LPU/SPU slot of the NIP6830.

The board is hot-swappable.

Mapping

Table 1-39 shows the mapping among the NIP-SPU-A, chassis, SPC, and software version.
