Associating an Eth-Trunk Interface in Static LACP Mode with a VRRP Backup Group (When Huawei Devices Are Connected to Non-Huawei Devices)

When a non-Huawei device is dual-homed to two Huawei devices, to implement rapid traffic switching between channels and ensure service reliability, associate an Eth-Trunk interface in static LACP mode with a VRRP backup group.

Usage Scenario

As shown in Figure 4-13, a non-Huawei CE is dual-homed to Huawei UPE1 and UPE2. Eth-Trunk links in static LACP mode are configured between the CE and the UPEs. UPE1 and UPE2 are configured as a VRRP backup group, with UPE1 being Master and UPE2 being Backup. After an Eth-Trunk interface in static LACP mode is associated with a VRRP backup group, the Eth-Trunk link can rapidly detect the status change of the VRRP backup group. When detecting a status change of the VRRP backup group, the Eth-Trunk interface can rapidly switch traffic to an available link. This ensures reliable service transmission.

Before associating an Eth-Trunk interface with a VRRP backup group, ensure that the Eth-Trunk interfaces associated with the same VRRP backup group meet the following requirements:
  • Share the same LACP system priority.
  • Share the same LACP system ID.
  • Have different member interface numbers.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run interface eth-trunk trunk-id

    The view of the Eth-Trunk interface associated with a VRRP backup group is displayed.

  3. Run lacp vrrp priority priority

    The LACP system priority of the Eth-Trunk interface is set.

  4. Run lacp system-id mac-address

    The LACP system ID of the Eth-Trunk interface is set.

  5. Run lacp port-id-extension enable

    The number of each member interface in the Eth-Trunk interface is increased by 32768.

  6. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.

Checking the Configurations

After associating an Eth-Trunk interface in static LACP mode with a VRRP backup group, check the configurations.

Run the display eth-trunk command to check the working mode of the Eth-Trunk interface and information about its member interfaces.
