Configuring Immediate MAC Address Synchronization on Physical Interfaces

Configuring Immediate MAC Address Synchronization on Physical Interfaces

Context

By default, physical interfaces do not learn MAC entries. If a device has both a logical interface and physical interface, and the outbound interface that sends uplink packets with the same source MAC address alternates between an Eth-Trunk interface (a logical interface) and a physical interface, the physical interface cannot learn correct MAC address entries. In this case, uplink traffic forwarding on the outbound interface is affected. To resolve this problem, run the mac-address phy-port synchronize command to configure immediate MAC address synchronization on physical interfaces.

This configuration task is supported only on the Admin-VS.

NOTE:

After this command is configured, if a Layer 2 loop occurs, there is a possibility that CPU usage is high. You can enable MAC-Flapping to prevent high CPU usage due to Layer 2 loops.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run mac-address phy-port synchronize enable

Immediate MAC address synchronization on physical interfaces is configured.

  3. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
