This section describes how to maintain the virtual access system.

Checking the Connectivity of the Virtual Access System

After configuring virtual access, you can perform a ping operation to check the connectivity from a master to an AP.

Prerequisites

Virtual access has been configured.

Procedure

  • Run the ping lsp [ -c count | -exp exp-value | -m interval | -t time-out ] * ap { ap-id | ap-address } [ primary | hot-standby ] command in any view to check the connectivity of the primary and backup vaLSPs from a master to an AP.
  • Run the ping vc [ -c echo-number | -m time-value | -t timeout-value | -exp exp-value ] * remote-interface remote-interface-name command in any view to check the connectivity of the primary and secondary vaPWs from a master to an AP.

Reoptimizing a vaTunnel

After establishing a virtual access system, you can manually reoptimize a virtual access tunnel (vaTunnel).

Prerequisites

A virtual access system has been established.

Context

In a virtual access system, a master and AP establish a vaTunnel to carry a virtual access PW (vaPW). The master calculates the vaTunnel's path. After a vaTunnel is established, the master reoptimizes (recalculates the vaTunnel's path to attempt to find a better path) the vaTunnel every 24 hours by default. To change the path used, you can manually reoptimize a vaTunnel.

Procedure

  • Run the virtual-access reoptimization va-tunnel ap-id ap-id command in the user view to reoptimize the vaTunnel between a master and AP.

Reoptimizing a vaP2MP Tunnel

After configuring multicast AP replication, you can manually reoptimize a vaP2MP tunnel.

Prerequisites

Multicast AP replication has been configured.

Procedure

  • Run the virtual-access reoptimization va-tunnel p2mp tunnel-id tunnel-id command in the user view to reoptimize a specified vaP2MP tunnel.

Clearing Interface Statistics

Before collecting traffic statistics within a specified period of time on an interface, you must clear existing statistics on the interface.

Context

Statistics cannot be restored after being cleared. Exercise caution when running the following commands.

Procedure

  • To clear the traffic or MIB statistics of an AP's external communication interface corresponding to the specified virtual access interface or trunk interface, run the reset counters interface remote command in the user view.
