BIG-IP LTM Configuration Procedure

BIG-IP LTM Configuration Procedure

Before configuring the F5 BIG-IP, you need to complete the planning.

The BIG-IP LTM configurations include:

  1. Network planning: Plan the host name, IP address /VLAN, route, virtual server, address pool, load balancing algorithm, session persistence mode, and two-node cluster, and draw a network topology.
  2. Initial configuration: Generally, the initial configuration is performed using the web, including the license activation, platform configuration, and network configuration.
  3. Configuring the VLAN and IP address
  4. (Optional) Changing the system clock
  5. Configuring the two-node cluster
  6. Configuring FusionAccess services
NOTE:
  • This configuration procedure is a common configuration sequence. This document does not include configurations such as filtering and SSL Proxy.
  • All the preceding configuration steps need to be performed on the active BIG-IP system. You can skip steps 6 in the standby BIG-IP system and synchronize the configuration to the standby BIG-IP system through the active BIG-IP system.
