ALM-2022 Created Configuration Items Exceed the Threshold

Description

This alarm is reported when the number of created configuration items exceeds 70% of the threshold.

Alarm Type

2022

Minor (over 70%), major (over 80%), critical (over 90%)

Environmental alarm

Parameters

Parameter

Description

Namespace

Indicates the namespace of the service for which the alarm is generated.

ServiceName

Indicates the name of the service for which the alarm is generated.

InstanceName

Indicates the name of the service instance for which the alarm is reported.

NodeIp

Indicates the IP address of the host where the microservice instance is deployed.

Impact on the System

Configuration item creation fails.
  • Minor alarms: The number of configuration items that can be supported by the system exceeds 70%.
  • Major alarms: The number of configuration items that can be supported by the system exceeds 80%.
  • Critical alarms: The number of configuration items that can be supported by the system exceeds 90%.

Possible Causes

The number of created configuration items exceeds 70% of the threshold.

Procedure

  1. Use PuTTY to log in to the manage_lb1_ip node.

The default username is paas, and the default password is QAZ2wsx@123!.

  2. Run the following command and enter the password of the root user to switch to the root user:

    su - root

    Default password: QAZ2wsx@123!

  3. Check the resource usage of the system, including the resources of the etcd cluster.

Check whether the CPU usage and disk I/O of the alarm reporting node meet the requirements.

If hardware resources can be upgraded, you are advised to upgrade hardware resources first. For example, change etcd storage to SSD. Contact O&M personnel to perform this operation.

  4. Change the alarm threshold.

    1. Access the deployment file of the cse-config-center service.

      kubectl edit deployment cse-config-center -n fst-manage

    2. Change the value of CONFIG_ITEM_CAPACITY to 10000. If the configuration item does not exist, add it.
      - name: CONFIG_ITEM_CAPACITY
        value: "10000"

CONFIG_ITEM_CAPACITY is the baseline value for alarm reporting. When the number of configuration items that can be supported by the system exceeds the value of CONFIG_ITEM_CAPACITY, an alarm is reported.

      • Minor alarms: The number of configuration items that can be supported by the system exceeds 70% of the value of CONFIG_ITEM_CAPACITY.
      • Major alarms: The number of configuration items that can be supported by the system exceeds 80% of the value of CONFIG_ITEM_CAPACITY.
      • Critical alarms: The number of configuration items that can be supported by the system exceeds 90% of the value of CONFIG_ITEM_CAPACITY.

If the new value of CONFIG_ITEM_CAPACITY cannot meet the requirements, perform the following operations when the system performance is sufficient:

      1. Change the maximum configuration items of a single tenant in the configuration center (the value of SERVICE_CONFIG_DEFAULT_LIMIT) in the environment variables. The value depends on the system performance. The default value is 10000.
        - name: SERVICE_CONFIG_DEFAULT_LIMIT
          value: "10000"
      2. Change the value of CONFIG_ITEM_CAPACITY in the environment variables.
        NOTE:

The value of CONFIG_ITEM_CAPACITY cannot be greater than the value of SERVICE_CONFIG_DEFAULT_LIMIT.

  5. Check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, contact technical support for assistance.

Alarm Clearing

This alarm will be automatically cleared after the fault is rectified.
