ALM-1060047 Data Store Virtual Capacity Usage Exceeds The Threshold

ALM-1060047 Data Store Virtual Capacity Usage Exceeds The Threshold

Description

FusionSphere OpenStack periodically (5 minutes by default) checks the storage usage. This alarm is generated when the virtual storage usage is greater than 85%.

NOTE:
  • This alarm applies only to storage used by FusionSphere OpenStack, such as Huawei disk arrays and FusionStorage. To check whether the alarm is generated for storage used by FusionCompute or vCenter, see corresponding management software.
  • Virtual storage capacity = Physical capacity x Thin provisioning ratio

Parameters

Name

Meaning

Fault Location Info

  • region: specifies the region where the backend storage for which the alarm is generated belongs.
  • backend: specifies the name of the backend storage for which the alarm is generated.

Additional Info

  • Service: specifies the service for which the alarm is generated.
  • MicroService: specifies the name of the microservice for which the alarm is generated.
  • region: specifies the region where the backend storage for which the alarm is generated belongs.
  • backend: specifies the name of the backend storage for which the alarm is generated.
  • Threshold: specifies the virtual storage capacity usage threshold.
  • Usage: specifies the virtual capacity usage of the backend storage for which the alarm is generated.

Impact on the System

When the virtual storage usage becomes over high, the virtual storage resource may become inaccessible.

Possible Causes

  • The thin provisioning ratio is set too small. As a result, the virtual storage capacity may be insufficient even though the physical capacity is sufficient.
  • The physical capacity of the backend storage is insufficient.

Procedure

  1. Check whether the alarm described in ALM-6025 Data Store Usage Exceeds the Threshold is in the alarm list.

  2. Check whether the alarm is cleared from the alarm list.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to 3.

  3. Obtain the storage backend name based on Fault Location Info of the alarm.
  4. Log in to the FusionSphere OpenStack web client.

For details, see Logging In to the FusionSphere OpenStack Web Client (ManageOne Mode).

  5. choose Configuration > Manage Resource Pool.
  6. In the Resource Pool area, click to switch to the Cluster Management page. On this page, locate the name of the storage backend for which the alarm is reported.
  7. Click . The Configure Storage Cluster page is displayed. Obtain the storage pool name from Storage Pool Name and obtain the storage device URL from REST URL.
  8. Expand the storage capacity. For details, see the documents for the corresponding storage type and version.

  9. Check whether the alarm is cleared from the alarm list.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to 10.

  10. Contact technical support for assistance.
