Description

FusionSphere OpenStack checks the statuses of fiber channels on hosts every 300s. This alarm is generated when a fiber channel fails.

Possible Causes

The optical fiber network port is faulty or the optical fiber cable is disconnected.

Procedure

  1. Obtain the ID of the faulty host in Additional Info.
  2. Locate the equipment room housing the faulty host.
  3. In the equipment room, check whether the optical fiber cable connecting to the faulty host is disconnected or damaged.

    • If yes, properly connect the optical fiber cable to the host or change the cable and then go to 4.

      When inserting or replacing an optical fiber, ensure that the position and quantity of optical ports are consistent before and after the operation. If the position of the optical port is changed or the number of optical ports is reduced, restart the host that reports the alarm before performing 4. Otherwise, the alarm cannot be automatically cleared.

    • If no, go to 5.

  4. After 1 to 2 minutes, check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • If yes, locate the VMs that have virtual disks attached or boot from virtual disks on the node for which the alarm is generated, and hard reboot the VMs. Choose Computing > ECS > Compute Instances on Service OM, locate the row that contains the target VM, and choose More > Force Restart. If the restart is successful, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to 5.

  5. Contact the O&M personnel to check whether the network is faulty.

    • If yes, contact O&M personnel to recover the network and go to 6.
    • If no, go to 7.

  6. After 1 to 2 minutes, check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • If yes, locate the VMs that have virtual disks attached or boot from virtual disks on the node for which the alarm is generated, and hard reboot the VMs. Choose Computing > ECS > Compute Instances on Service OM, locate the row that contains the target VM, and choose More > Force Restart. If the restart is successful, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to 7.

  7. Contact technical support for assistance.
