ALM-101205 Scheduled Backup Failure

Description

The management plane monitors the tasks that are being backed up. When any of the following situations occurs, the management plane reports the Scheduled Backup Failure alarm. When the backup tasks are executed successfully, the management plane automatically clears the alarm.
  • The backup parameters are not set.
  • Failed to store the data on the backup server.
  • The scheduled backup task of product data is partially successful or fails to be executed.
  • The scheduled backup task of product application fails to be executed.
  • The scheduled backup task of database application fails to be executed.
  • The scheduled backup task of the management plane fails to be executed.
  • The scheduled backup task of operating systeme fails to be executed.

Probable Causes

  • Backup parameters are not configured.
  • Failed to store the data on the backup server:
    • An exception occurs on the network between the backup server and the database node.
    • The backup server fails to be logged in to or the backup server is faulty.
    • The backup server space is full.
  • The scheduled backup task of product data is partially successful or fails to be executed.
  • The scheduled backup task of product application fails to be executed.
  • The scheduled backup task of database application fails to be executed.
  • The scheduled backup task of the management plane fails to be executed.
  • The scheduled backup task of operating systeme fails to be executed.

Procedure

Select the corresponding troubleshooting procedure in Table 4-2 based on the cause of the backup failure.

  • Set backup parameters
    1. Choose Backup and Restore > Configurations > Configure Backup Parameters from the main menu of the management plane.
    2. Set backup parameters.
      • Set backup server parameters.

        In the Backup Server area, perform operations as prompted.

      • Perform the following operations to change the default storage thresholds for the data backup files of products as required.

        In the Storage Strategy for the Product Data Backup Files area, complete the operations by following Table 4-3.

        1. In the Storage Strategy for the Product Data Backup Files area, select the product for which you want to set the backup file storage threshold and click in the Details column.
        2. Select the product to be set or the service instances of the product to be set and click Modify Threshold.
        3. In the dialog box that is displayed, set the number of backup files and click Save.

        Set a single threshold.

        1. In the Storage Strategy for the Product Data Backup Files area, locate the row that contains the product whose backup file storage threshold is to be set, and click .
        2. In the Operation column of the service to be configured, click .
        3. In the Stored Backup Files column of the service to be set, set the number of backup files and click .
      • When the default storage threshold for the management plane backup files cannot meet actual requirements, perform the following operations to modify the storage strategy of the management plane backup files:
        1. In the Storage Strategy for the CloudSOP-UniEP Backup Files area, configure the number of back file copies.
        2. Click Save.
    3. Create a scheduled backup task for product data for the corresponding product based on the details reported by the alarm.
      1. On the management plane, choose Backup and Restore > Configuration > Configure Scheduled Backup Task from the main menu.
      2. On the Configure Scheduled Backup Task page, Click Create.
      3. Select Product Data.
      4. In the Backup Object area, select the backup object. Create a one-time scheduled backup task for product data as prompted.
      5. Choose System > Task Manager > Task Information List, check whether the scheduled backup task is successfully executed.
        • If the scheduled backup task is successful, go to 4.
        • If the scheduled backup task is fails, contact Huawei technical support.
    4. After the scheduled backup task executes successfully, check whether the alarm is cleared.
      • If the alarm is cleared, no further action is required.
      • If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support.
  • Check the connectivity and storage space of the backup server
    1. Use PuTTY to log in to any database node of the management plane as the ossadm user and run the following command to check the connectivity between the database node and the backup server:

      sftp Backup server user name@Backup server IP address

      Backup server user name@Backup server IP address's password
      • If information similar to the following is displayed, the network connection is normal. Go to 2.
        Connected to Backup server IP address sftp>
      • If information similar to the following is displayed, the fingerprint authentication between the database node and the backup server is lost or has not been configured. Choose Backup and Restore > Configurations > Configure Backup Parameters from the main menu of the management plane, on the Backup Server area, click to reconfigure the SFTP fingerprint.
        The authenticity of host '10.10.10.28 (10.10.10.28)' can't be established. 
        ……
        No matching host key fingerprint found in DNS. 
      • When the following information is displayed, press Ctrl+C to exit the viewing of SFTP fingerprint authentication information. If the request timeout error is returned, the network connection is abnormal, check and recover the network connection.
        Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)? 
    2. Use PuTTY to log in to the backup server as a backup server user.
      1. If the login is successful, the password is not changed and the backup server is running properly. Go to 3.
      2. If the login failed, the possible cause is that the password is changed or the backup server is faulty. Contact O&M personnel.
    3. Check the backup server space.
      1. Run the following command to check the available space of the backup server:

        > df -Ph

      2. Information similar to the following is displayed. Check the value of Avail in the Mounted on column of the row containing the backup server SFTP shared directory partition.

      3. Check whether the size of the remaining backup space meets the backup file requirements. The following assumes that the size of the backup file is 5 GB.
        • If the remaining backup space is greater than 5 GB, no further action is required.
        • If the remaining backup space is less than or equal to 5 GB, contact the administrator to expand the storage space.
    4. Create a scheduled backup task for product data for the corresponding product based on the details reported by the alarm.
      1. On the management plane, choose Backup and Restore > Configuration > Configure Scheduled Backup Task from the main menu.
      2. On the Configure Scheduled Backup Task page, Click Create.
      3. Select Product Data.
      4. In the Backup Object area, select the backup object. Create a one-time scheduled backup task for product data as prompted.
      5. Choose System > Task Manager > Task Information List, check whether the scheduled backup task is successfully executed.
        • If the scheduled backup task is successful, go to 5.
        • If the scheduled backup task is fails, contact Huawei technical support.
    5. After the scheduled backup task executes successfully, check whether the alarm is cleared.
      • If the alarm is cleared, no further action is required.
      • If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support.
  • View the task details.
    1. Log in to the management plane.
      1. Open the browser and enter https://client IP address of the management plane:31945 in the address box and press Enter.
      2. Enter the user name admin and password, and click Log In.
    2. On the main menu, choose System > Task Manager > Task Information List.
    3. Click to obtain the locating information about the task failure, rectify the fault based on the locating information, if the fault is rectified, go to 4. Otherwise, contact Huawei technical support.
    4. Create a one-time scheduled backup task for the data type of the corresponding product or the management plane based on the details reported by the alarm.
      1. On the management plane, choose Backup and Restore > Configuration > Configure Scheduled Backup Task from the main menu.
      2. On the Configure Scheduled Backup Task page, Click Create.
      3. Select the type of data to be backed up based on site requirements and create a scheduled backup task.
        • Select Product Data and create a scheduled task for backing up the product data.
        • Select Product Application and create a scheduled task for backing up the product application.
        • Select Database Application and create a scheduled task for backing up the database application.
        • Select Operating System and create a scheduled task for backing up the OS.
        • Select CloudSOP-UniEP and create a scheduled task for backing up the management plane as prompted, go to 4.e.
      4. In the Backup Object area, select the backup object. Create a one-time scheduled backup task for the corresponding data type as prompted.
      5. Choose System > Task Manager > Task Information List, check whether the scheduled backup task is successfully executed.
        • If the scheduled backup task is successful, go to 5.
        • If the scheduled backup task is fails, contact Huawei technical support.
    5. After the scheduled backup task executes successfully, check whether the alarm is cleared.
      • If the alarm is cleared, no further action is required.
      • If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support.
