ALM-6039 Memory Usage of the Host Virtualization Domain Exceeds the Threshold

ALM-6039 Memory Usage of the Host Virtualization Domain Exceeds the Threshold

Description

FusionSphere OpenStack detects the memory usage of the host virtualization domain every 60 seconds. This alarm is generated when the system detects that the memory usage is higher than or equal to the alarm threshold.

NOTE:
  • The default alarm threshold offset is 5%. The default alarm thresholds are as follows:
    • Critical: Memory usage of the host virtualization domain ≥ 90%
    • Major: 80% ≤ Memory usage of the host virtualization domain < 90%
  • To customize the alarm threshold of the host memory usage, adjust the threshold on the Alarm Settings tab page on Service OM.

Impact on the System

The existing VMs are faulty.

Possible Causes

  • The alarm threshold set for the memory usage of the host virtualization domain is too low.
  • Too many VMs are created on the host.

Procedure

  1. On Service OM, choose Service OM > Centralized O&M > Alarm > Alarm Settings.

On the displayed Alarm Thresholds page, check whether the alarm threshold set for the memory usage of the host virtualization domain is too low.

    • If yes, go to 2.
    • If no, go to 4.

  2. Adjust the alarm thresholds. For details, see Configuring Alarm Thresholds.
  3. After 3 to 4 minutes, check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to 4.

  4. Migrate VMs from the host to another one. For details, see "Migrating a VM" in HUAWEI CLOUD Stack 6.5.0 O&M Guide.

If there is no other host available, go to 6.

  5. After 3 to 4 minutes, check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to 6.

  6. Contact technical support for assistance.
