ALM-9204 Time Difference Between the OpenStack OM and the Upper-Layer Time Server Too Large


The time management module monitors the running status of Network Time Protocol (NTP) service. This alarm is generated when the NTP service stops because the time difference between FusionSphere OpenStack OM and the upper-layer time server exceeds the threshold.

  • Local_Address: specifies the local IP address.
  • Peer_Address: specifies the peer IP address.

Impact on the System

Service OM cannot synchronize time with the upper-layer NTP server. As a result, the Service OM time is not accurate.

Possible Causes

If the time difference between Service OM and the upper-layer time server exceeds the threshold (60s), Service OM stops synchronizing time with the upper-layer NTP server.


  1. Log in to the Service OM web client.

    For details, see Logging In to and Logging Out of Service OM.

  2. On the Service OM page, choose Services > Service OM > Centralized O&M > System > Time Management.
  3. On the Time Management page, click Synchronize Time Forcibly.

    System services will be restarted during forcibly time synchronization, which takes about 20 minutes.

  4. After about 20 minutes, log in to Service OM again, switch to the Time Management page, and check whether the forcible time synchronization is successful.

    • If yes, go to 5.
    • If no, go to 7.

  5. Check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to 6.

  6. Handle the time error by performing operations provided in "System Time Faults" in the HUAWEI CLOUD Stack 6.5.0 Troubleshooting Guide.
  7. Contact technical support for assistance.
