ALM-73204 Inconsistent Host Versions

ALM-73204 Inconsistent Host Versions

Description

FusionSphere OpenStack periodically (default interval: 300 seconds) checks the version of each host. This alarm is generated when the host version is inconsistent with the system version.

NOTE:

Version inconsistency covers the internal OS version number and system timestamp during host OS installation in PXE mode.

Therefore, OSs with the same internal version cannot be randomly used between hosts.

Parameters

Name

Meaning

Fault Location Info

Specifies the ID of the host for which the alarm is generated.

Additional Info

  • First parameter:
    • alarmInfo: provides detailed information about the alarm.
    • hostosversion: specifies the OS version of the host for which the alarm is generated.
    • hosttimetag: specifies the timestamp of the host for which the alarm is generated.
    • sysosversion: specifies the OS version of the host where the alarm is generated.
    • systimetag: specifies the system timestamp on the host for which the alarm is generated.
  • The second parameter specifies the ID of the host for which the alarm is generated.
  • The third parameter specifies the name of the host for which the alarm is generated.

Impact on the System

Inconsistent host versions may cause a host fault, even a component fault.

Possible Causes

  • Cause 1: Hosts in other systems are connected to FusionSphere OpenStack.
  • Cause 2: As a non-first node, the host is restarted before it is installed using PXE. In addition, the host has other OpenStack versions installed before.
  • Cause 3: The system is upgraded or patched when some hosts are powered off or faulty.

Procedure

  1. Check whether other hosts are connected to the environment.

    1. Log in to the FusionSphere OpenStack web client.

For details, see Logging In to the FusionSphere OpenStack Web Client (ManageOne Mode).

    2. On the Summary page, query the host list. The details are shown in the following figure.

Check whether the host is mistakenly connected, as shown in the preceding figure.

      • If yes, go to 2.
      • If no, go to 3 to locate the next possible cause.

  2. Delete the host that is mistakenly connected. For details, see "Handling the Issue that Hosts Are Mistakenly Connected to an AZ" in the HUAWEI CLOUD Stack 6.5.0 Troubleshooting Guide.

Manually clear the alarm and no further action is required.

  3. Check whether a non-first host is restarted before it is installed using PXE and whether the host has other OpenStack versions installed before.

    • If yes, go to 4.
    • If no, go to 5 to locate the next possible cause.

  4. Re-install the host in PXE mode. The alarm is cleared automatically if the host is installed successfully.

    No further action is required.

  5. Check whether the system is upgraded or a patch is installed when some hosts are powered off or faulty.

    • If yes, go to 6.
    • If no, go to 7.

  6. Select handling methods based on the host status.

    • If the host is not faulty and can still be used, install the host in PXE mode by referring to "Manually Installing Hosts in PXE Mode" in the HUAWEI CLOUD Stack 6.5.0 Software Installation Guide. The alarm is cleared automatically if the host is installed successfully.
    • If the host is faulty, replace the host. For details, see "Replacing a Host" in HUAWEI CLOUD Stack 6.5.0 Parts Replacement. After the replacement is successful, manually clear the alarm.

      No further action is required.

  7. If other fault persists, contact technical support for assistance.
