Fault Location Info

host_id: specifies the ID of the host for which the alarm is generated.

vm_name: specifies the name of the faulty VM.

Additional Info

  • error_info: specifies the VM exception information, including the VM name and UUID.
  • host_id: specifies the ID of the host for which the alarm is generated.
  • hostname: specifies the name of the host for which the alarm is generated.
  • HostIP: specifies the IP address of the host for which the alarm is generated.

Impact on the System

VMs become unresponsive, and the watchdog timeout event fails to report.

Possible Causes

  • After the watchdog function is enabled, the IPMI simulation process exits.
  • After the watchdog function is enabled, the IPMI simulation process is in the T or Z status.

Procedure

  1. Obtain the host IP address in the alarm additional information. Use PuTTY to log in to the host where the alarm is generated using the IP address of the host.

The default username is fsp, and the default password is Huawei@CLOUD8.

The system supports both password and public-private key pair for identity authentication. If the public-private key pair is used for login authentication, see detailed operations in Using PuTTY to Log In to a Node in Key Pair Authentication Mode.

  2. Run the following command and enter the password of user root to switch to user root:

    su - root

The default password of user root is Huawei@CLOUD8!.

  3. Use PuTTY to log in to a host and run the following command to restart vBMC_agentd. After 10 seconds, check whether the alarm is automatically cleared.

    systemctl restart vBMC_agentd

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to 4.

  4. Run the following command to restart sysmonitor. After 10 seconds, check whether the alarm is automatically cleared.

    systemctl restart sysmonitor

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to 5.

  5. Run the following command to check whether the VM for which the alarm is generated is in the active status:

    nova_virsh_cmd virsh-instance-state VMName

In the preceding command, VMName indicates the alarm object ID, for example, nova_virsh_cmd virsh-instance-state instance-00000050.

    • If yes, go to 6.
    • If no, manually clear the alarm.

  6. Run the following command to stop the VM:

    nova_virsh_cmd virsh-instance-shutdown VMName

If "success" is returned, the VM is stopped.

  7. Run the following command to start the VM:

    virsh start VMName

If information similar to "Domain instance-00000126 started" is displayed, the VM is started.

  8. Wait for 10 seconds after the VM is started and check whether the alarm is automatically cleared.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to 9.
