Description

The system checks whether the NTP process exists every 60 seconds. This alarm is generated if the process does not exist.

A system time change affects job scheduling, or even causes incorrect status detection among the service nodes, thereby leading to system breakdown and service unavailability.

Possible Causes

An exception occurs on the NTP process.

Procedure

  1. Log in to ManageOne Maintenance Portal using a browser.

    • URL: https://Address for accessing the homepage of ManageOne Maintenance Portal:31943, for example, https://oc.type.com:31943
    • Default username: admin; default password: Huawei12#$

  2. On the menu bar in the upper part of the page, choose Alarms > Current Alarms.
  3. In the alarm list, locate the alarm to be handled, and click on the left of the alarm. The Details page is displayed.
  4. Choose Location Info, obtain the host IP address, that is, the IP address of the node where the alarm is generated.
  5. Use PuTTY to log in to the VM identified in 4.

    The default username is apicom, and the default password is Huawei12#$.

  6. Run the following command to disable user logout upon system timeout:

    TMOUT=0

  7. Run the following command to switch to user root:

    sudo su - root

  8. Run the following command to check whether the NTP process is running:

    ps -ef |grep ntp

    If the following information is displayed, the NTP process is running.

    [root@CPT-SRV01 ~]# ps -ef |grep ntp
    root  612   1            0  Jan07 ?       00:02:09 /usr/sbin/irqbalance -- foreground -- policyscript=/etc/sysconfig/irqbalance.rules --hintpolicy=subnet
    ntp   28076 1          0  19:42  ?       00:00:00 /usr/sbin/ntpd -u ntp:ntp -g
    root  28597 26104  0  19:42 pts/3  00:00:00 grep -- color=auto ntp
    • If yes, go to 9.
    • If no, go to 11.

  9. Run the following command to restart the NTP process:

    service ntp restart

  10. Check whether the NTP process is successfully restarted.

    If the following information is displayed, the NTP process is restarted.

    [root@CPT-SRV01 ~]# service ntp restart
    Redirecting to /bin/systemctl restart ntp.service
    • If yes, go to 13.
    • If no, contact technical support for assistance.

  11. Run the following command to start the NTP process:

    service ntp start

  12. Check whether the NTP process is successfully started.

    If the following information is displayed, the NTP process is started.

    [root@CPT-SRV01 ~]# service ntp start
    Redirecting to /bin/systemctl start ntp.service
    • If yes, go to 13.
    • If no, contact technical support for assistance.

  13. Ten minutes later, check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, contact technical support for assistance.
