Backing up eReplication Data

Backing up eReplication Data

Configuring Backup Policies

Before performing an upgrade or adjusting key data, you need to back up configuration data of eReplication to back up database data. If eReplication encounters anomalies, you can use the backup data to implement restoration.

Prerequisites

If you want to use automatic backup mode, you need to obtain the IP address, username, password, and port of the SFTP backup server.

Context
  • Check whether the available space of the file system where the SFTP user directory resides on the SFTP server meets the requirements.
  • Configure separate backup storage space for eReplication management data.
  • The formula for calculating the space occupied by the system configuration data file is as follows: Maximum data volume = Number of service instances x 15 MB x 7 days
Precautions
  • When deploying two eReplication servers, ensure that the time is consistent between the production and DR eReplication servers.
  • In manual backup mode, you need to manually export system configuration data to a local path.
Procedure
  1. On the menu bar, select Settings.
  2. In the navigation tree, choose Data Maintenance > System Configuration Data.
  3. Select Automatic Backup.

  4. Configure the IP address, username, password, and port for the SFTP backup server.

    NOTE:
    • To protect the security of configuration data, the backup server must adopt the secure SFTP protocol.
    • For the automatic deployment of FCD, the default encryption password of the backup file is BCM@Data123.

  5. Configure the data encryption password.

This password is used in the compression and encryption of system configuration data to ensure backup data security. You need to keep the password secure. When the system configurations need to be restored after a system fault, the password needs to be used to decrypt the backup system configuration data.

    NOTE:

The password complexity requirements are as follows:

    • Contains 8 to 15 characters.
    • Contains at least one special character from `~!@#$%^&*()-_=+|[{}];:'",<.>/? and cannot contain spaces.
    • Must contain at least two of the following types of characters:
      • Uppercase letters
      • Lowercase letters
      • Digits

  6. Click OK.
  7. In the Warning dialog box that is displayed, read the content of the dialog box carefully and select I have read and understood the consequences associated with performing this operation.

    NOTE:

After automatic backup is enabled, you can update the SFTP server information in eReplication and click OK to save the new information.

  8. Click OK.
  9. After the automatic backup policy is configured, you can click Test to test the automatic backup policy.

Viewing Automatic Backup Data

Procedure

Prepare for an SFTP server and configure the SFTP in eReplication. After the configuration completes, the system automatically backs up system data to the SFTP server at 02:00 every day of the eReplication server time. The SFTP server stores backup data of a maximum of seven days. Data generated seven days ago is automatically deleted. If the backup fails, the system reports an alarm. After the next backup succeeds, the alarm is automatically cleared. The path for storing backup data is /SFTP user name/CloudComputing/DRBackup/eReplication management IP address/YYYY-MM-DD/Auto/ConfigData.zip.

Manually Backing Up Data

If the period of scheduled backup cannot meet backup requirements, you can back up data manually.

Prerequisites

In manual backup mode, if a task is being executed, the task status may be inconsistent. You are advised to export system configuration data when no task is running.

Context

In manual backup mode, you can manually export the system configuration data to the local host.

NOTE:

When backing up configuration data, you need to back up the production site data and DR site data at the same time.

Procedure
  1. On the menu bar, select Settings.
  2. In the navigation tree, choose Data Maintenance > System Configuration Data.
  3. Select Manual Backup.

  4. In the System Configuration Data area, click Export.

      • Digits

  6. Click OK to save the ConfigData.zip file to a local path.
