DR Testing
You can test a service instance to verify the availability of the data and snapshots replicated to the DR center. During a test, the DR center generates test data using snapshots, which has no impact on the production center. After the test is complete, the test environment must be cleared. Before a fault recovery or planned migration, at least one DR test must be executed successfully.
To configure a separate test network, see section Configuring an ECS Test Network.
Prerequisites
- The production center communicates with the DR center properly. The management system and the DR environment of the DR center are working properly.
- At least one service instance has been created in the system.
- A remote replication relationship in normal status has been created between the production center and the DR center.
- The VDC administrator account or VDC operator account for logging in to the ManageOne operation plane have been obtained.
Procedure
- Log in to the ManageOne as a VDC administrator or VDC operator using a browser.
URL in the non-B2B scenario: https://Address for accessing the ManageOne Console page. For example, https://console.demo.com.
URL in the B2B scenario: https://Address used by VDC users to access the ManageOne tenant plane. For example, https://tenant.demo.com.
- Select your region and then project from the drop-down list on the top menu bar.
- Choose
- Choose in the row where the desired service instance resides.
A confirmation dialog box is displayed.
- Click OK.
The test starts. During the test, other operations cannot be performed. Wait until the status of the service instance changes into Test completed, which indicates completion of the test.
You can choose More > Execution History in the row where the tested service instance resides to view the test result.
Follow-Up Operation Procedure
After the data test, you must clear the test data generated in the DR system and restore the test environment.
- Choose More > Clear in the row where the desired service instance resides.
A confirmation dialog box is displayed.
- Click OK.
The clearing starts. During the clearing, other operations cannot be performed. Wait until the status of the service instance changes into Normal, which indicates completion of the clearing.
You can choose More > Execution History in the row where the cleared service instance resides to view the clearing result.
