What Is Application Recognition Service?

Definition

Application Recognition Service (ARS) is an intelligent process management service that helps ensure the security of Elastic Cloud Servers (ECSs). ARS monitors the running of programs based on a custom whitelist mechanism.

ARS is composed of the application recognition console, agent, agent management module, and whitelist library.

  • Application recognition console: provides the user with an operation portal to enable and disable ARS-related functions and view protection results.
  • Agent management module: controls agents on VMs and delivers policies.
  • Application recognition agent: monitors and reports application status in real time.
  • Whitelist library: provides scenario-based application whitelists.

Functions

ARS provides the following functions:

  • Application recognition: detects and authenticates applications on the ECS, detects trusted non-configured applications in real time, and collects and displays the application status.
  • Trust status adjustment: The tenant administrator can switch the application status among trusted, unreliable, and unknown.
