Firewall

Type I: A firewall consists of one or more access control lists (ACLs). Based on inbound and outbound network ACLs, the firewall determines whether data packets are allowed in or out of any associated subnet.

Type II: A firewall consists of one or more access control lists (ACLs). Based on inbound and outbound network ACLs, the firewall determines whether data packets are allowed in or out of any associated VPC.

The firewall and security group work at different levels. Firewall policies are configured on router interfaces to control data flow in and out of the network. Security group rules take effect on VM ports to control the data flow of VMs.
