VMware Snapshot

VMware Snapshot

What Is VMware Snapshot?

VMware snapshots are used to back up VMs and data. If server operations are incorrect or website data needs to be restored, all systems can be restored using the snapshots.

VMware Snapshot allows you to back up VMware Elastic Cloud Servers (ECSs), and use the backup data to restore the VMware ECSs. This avoids irreversible loss caused by misoperations.

Application Scenarios

If a misoperation occurs during the use of products provided by VMware Service, you can use the snapshots to restore VMware ECSs. Figure 40-14 shows the details.

  1. VDC administrators or VDC operators apply for VMware snapshots from the ManageOne operation plane. VMware Service delivers the operation requests to VMware Snapshot for processing.
  2. CoreTask processes tasks transferred by VMware Snapshot.
  3. API Gateway distributes the requests for vCenter systems.

Related Services

VMware EVS: You can use VMware Snapshot to back up VMware ECSs and restore or create VMware EVS disks, as shown in Figure 40-17.

Accessing and Using VMware Snapshot

FusionCloud provides a web-based service management platform, which users can access with the ManageOne operation plane or API.

  • ManageOne operation plane

Users can use the ManageOne operation plane to access the cloud service. If you are a VDC administrator, VDC operator, or have the operation rights for the cloud service, you can directly log in to the ManageOne operation plane and choose this cloud service on the Product List or Console menu.

  • API

If you want to integrate the service into a third-party system for secondary development, you can access the service using API. For details, see the API reference of the cloud service in FusionCloud API Reference.
