Information Collection

Information Collection

OceanStor DJ allows users to use SmartKit to collect information. SmartKit can check OceanStor DJ nodes in an all-around way and in real time, analyzes faults, and provides suggestions on fault rectification.

Prerequisites

  • A maintenance terminal running Windows is available. This maintenance terminal can communicate with OceanStor DJ nodes.
  • The SmartKit package SmartKit V2R5C00RC4.zip has been obtained.
  • The floating IP address of the management plane of OceanStor DJ node and the password of the djmanager account have been obtained.
  • The information collection package OceanStor DJ V1R3C00RC1 Collect.zip for OceanStor DJ has been obtained.

In the three-node cluster deployment scenario, the active node (node where the floating IP address of the management plane entered in device addition is located) collects log information of all nodes.

  • During information collection, when the log partition space usage of the active node exceeds 80%, the system displays the message Collection Failed.
  • During information collection, when the log partition space usage of any node other than the active node exceeds 90%, the active node does not collect log information on this node. For example, there are three OceanStor DJ nodes (A, B, and C) on the live network. A is the active node. When the log partition space usage of node B exceeds 90%, the collection results include only log information of nodes A and B.

Procedure

  1. Decompress and install SmartKit according to the installation wizard.
  2. Double-click the SmartKit icon to run SmartKit. For details, see Deploying SmartKit > Running SmartKit of SmartKit V2R5C00RC4 User Guide 01.
  3. Import the OceanStor DJ information collection package.

    1. Choose the ... > ToolStore tab and click Import.
    2. Select and install the OceanStor DJ information collection package as prompted.
    3. Click OK. The Verification and Installation dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 14-1.
      Figure 14-1 Verification and Installation
    4. Click Install.

  4. Discover OceanStor DJ nodes.

    1. Choose Devices > Storage and click Add.
    2. Select Specify IP Address, enter the floating IP address of the management plane of OceanStor DJ, and click Next.
      NOTE:

The system will automatically collect information of all nodes based on the entered float IP address. If you need to collect different information from different nodes, select Specify IP Segment to add the three nodes to Smartkit.

    3. In the Username and Password text boxes, enter djmanager and its password (default: CloudService@123!). The default port ID is 22.
    4. Click Finish.

  5. Collect log information from OceanStor DJ nodes.

    1. Choose the ... > MyTools tab and select Information Collection.
    2. If you want to save the collected information in a specified directory, click Change Directory, select a local directory on the maintenance terminal, and click Save.
      NOTE:

By default, the system saves the collected information in C:\Users\xx\Documents. You can change the directory based on actual situations.

    3. The system provides default information items to be collected. If you want to define information items to be collected, click Setting in the row of the added node. In the Set Device Information Collection dialog box that is displayed, set Collection Period and Information Collection Item, as shown in Figure 14-2.
Figure 14-2 Set Device Information Collection
    4. Select the OceanStor DJ nodes from which information will be collected, and click Collect Information.

The system starts the information collection task.

After the information collection task is complete, Status is Collection Succeeded or Collection Failed.

      • If Status is Collection Succeeded, node information has been collected successfully. The collected information is saved in the local directory on the maintenance terminal.
      • If Status is Collection Failed, you can click failed items to view failure details and rectify the failures.
    5. After information collection is complete, click Open Directory to view the collected information.

The directory for storing the collected information is named after the node IP address. In the three-node cluster deployment scenario, the node IP address is that entered during device addition. After accessing the directory, you can view the information collected from all nodes.
