NIC IP Addresses Are Lost After the SUSE Linux Node Managed by the Cluster Is Powered off and Restarted

Symptom

NIC IP addresses are lost after the SUSE Linux node managed by the cluster is powered off and restarted.

Possible Causes

Two host routes are configured in the node path /etc/sysconfig/network/routes. As a result, the wicked process is abnormal, the eth0 dhcp NIC fails, and IP addresses cannot be dynamically allocated.

Troubleshooting Method

  1. Use PuTTY to og in to the faulty node as the paas user and then switch to the root user.

    su root

  2. Comment out the other two routes except 10.247.0.0 in the /etc/sysconfig/network/routes directory.
  3. Run the following command to restart the NIC:

    service network restart

  4. Run the following command to verify that the two routes in 2 do not exist:

    route -n

  5. Run the following command to restart the node:

    reboot

  6. Run the following command to check whether IP addresses are set for the eth0 NIC:

    ifconfig
    • If yes, no further operation is required.
    • If no, contact technical support for assistance.
