mdns unicast-reply enable
Function
The mdns unicast-reply enable command enables the function of sending mDNS unicast response packets.
The undo mdns unicast-reply enable command disables the function of sending mDNS unicast response packets.
By default, the function of sending mDNS unicast response packets is disabled.
Usage Guidelines
Clients send broadcast packets to request for mDNS services. By default, the mDNS gateway returns broadcast response packets. You can run the mdns unicast-reply enable command to enable the function of sending mDNS unicast response packets. After this function is enabled, the mDNS gateway extracts IP addresses and MAC addresses from request packets and sends unicast response packets to the corresponding clients, reducing the load on the mDNS gateway.
After the function of sending mDNS unicast response packets is enabled, the destination MAC address of unicast packets sent by the mDNS gateway changes to a unicast MAC address, but the destination IP address is still the multicast address 224.0.0.251.
