Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

If two hosts on different physical networks of the same logical network segment are not configured with the default gateways, you can use the arp-proxy enable command to enable routed proxy ARP on a device between the two hosts to resolve IP addresses of the hosts.

Routed ARP proxy allows hosts on different physical networks of the same logical network segment to communicate. The IP addresses of the hosts on a subnet have the same network ID; therefore, the default gateway address does not need to be configured on the hosts.
