The scope command configures the matching scope of a user-defined signature rule.

The undo scope command restores the default configuration.

Indicates that the user-defined signature rule matches messages.



Indicates that the user-defined signature rule matches packets.

Usage Guidelines

By default, the matching scope of a user-defined signature rule is packet.

If you select flow, the device detects data flows. The configuration applies only to sessions of application-layer protocols over TCP.

If you select message, the device detects each message.

If you select packet, the device detects packets, such as TCP request or reply packets.


# Create user-defined signature rule hello in user-defined signature 1 and set the matching scope to packet.
