Usage Guidelines

If a mobile phone user uses the web proxy to access the Internet, the proxy performs HTTP message exchange regardless of which website the user visits. The proxy also performs HTTP message exchange in Portal authentication. Therefore, the mobile phone cannot access the Portal server before the user is successfully authenticated.

You can run the portal http-proxy-redirect enable [ port port-number ] command to enable the HTTP proxy function to allow mobile phones to access the Portal server.

The HTTP proxy function supports a maximum of three ports, including a user-specified port and default ports 8080, and 3128. If port 36 is specified using the portal http-proxy-redirect enable port 36 command, ports 8080, 3128, and 36 are enabled. If the portal http-proxy-redirect enable port 40 command is run, port numbers for the HTTP proxy function change to 8080, 3128, and 40.

Because ports 8080, and 3128 are default ports, it is recommended that you do not set the port number to 8080, or 3128 when running the command.
