Ethernet Submenu

Context

In the BootLoad menu, you can specify the system software after uploading it to the switch. The size of the system software is hundreds of bytes. Compared with using the serial port, transferring the system software over Ethernet submenu using FTP, TFTP, or SFTP provides much faster transfer speeds.

Before transferring files using the Ethernet submenu, deploy an FTP, TFTP, or SFTP server as the file server and connect the switch to the FTP, TFTP, or SFTP server using the Ethernet port (management interface).

Select 2 from the BootLoad menu to access the Ethernet submenu.

Item

Description

1. Download file to Flash through ethernet interface

Downloads the system software to the flash memory based on information set in 3. Modify parameters.

The flash memory works on the switch and stores startup files including the system software and configuration file. Before upgrading the system software, download the system software to the flash memory.

2. Upload Configuration file through ethernet interface

Uploads the configuration file to the FTP, TFTP, or SFTP server for backup.

3. Modify parameters

Allows you to modify parameters on the Ethernet port. Before uploading files using the Ethernet port, properly set the IP addresses of the main control card and FTP, TFTP, or SFTP server, name of the system software, and user name and password of the FTP, TFTP, or SFTP server.

Enter the preset IP address, user name, and password of the server. Ensure that the MPU IP address can communicate with the FTP, TFTP, or SFTP server address. By default, the IP address of the management interface is 192.168.1.10:ffffff00. The following shows an example:
current board ip:
