MCAST/3/ACL

Message

MCAST/3/ACL:Failed to Down ACL to LPU. (ACLID=[ULONG] , SlotID=[ULONG], Result=[ULONG])

Description

Delivering the ACL to an interface board fails due to an RPC communication error.

Parameters

Parameter Name Parameter Meaning
ACLID ACL rule name
SlotID ID of slot where an interface board is inserted
Result Indicates the error code of an ACL delivery failure. The error code 0 means that the ACL has been successfully delivered.

Possible Causes

An error occurs in the communication through the RPC on an interface board.

Procedure

  1. Run the display device command to check the status of the interface board when the event happens.
  2. If the interface board is restarting, this log is normal and does not need to be processed.
  3. If the interface board is in the running status, check whether the Ecm status of the interface board is normal. If not normal, collect log information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel. You can collect diagnostic information using the display diagnostic-information command.

MCAST/3/ENTRY

Message

MCAST/3/ENTRY:Failed to set forwarding table. (GroupIp=[STRING], GroupMac=[STRING], SourceIp=[STRING], VlanId=[ULONG], Operation=[STRING], Result=[ULONG])

Description

Sending a multicast forwarding entry to a chip fails.

Parameters

Parameter Name Parameter Meaning
GroupIp Indicates the group IP address.
GroupMac Indicates the group MAC address.
SourceIp Indicates the source IP address.
VlanId Indicates the In VLAN ID.
Operation Indicates adding a multicast forwarding entry to a chip or deleting a multicast forwarding entry from a chip fails.
Result Indicates the operation result.

Possible Causes

  1. The multicast forwarding entry being deleted does not exist on the chip.

  2. The index resource application failed.

Procedure

  1. If this log is recorded because a delete operation was performed on a nonexistent entry on the chip, ignore this informational log. If not, go to step 2.
  2. Run the display multicast forwarding-table command to check the Layer 3 forwarding table or run the display l2-multicast forwarding-table command to check Layer 2 multicast forwarding table. Determine whether the number of multicast entries exceeds the product specification. For the product specifications, log in to Huawei official website to download the product brochure or product feature list for channel (if your account is unauthorized, contact Huawei local office).

    • If yes, go to step 3.
    • If no, the index resource application may have failed. Go to step 4.

  3. Run the reset multicast forwarding-table [ group-address | source-address ] command to delete redundant Layer 3 multicast forwarding entries. Or run the reset igmp-snooping group vlan [ vlan-id ] group-address [ group-address ] command to delete redundant Layer 2 multicast forwarding entries. Then re-configure multicast services. If this log persists, go to step 4.
  4. Collect log information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel. You can collect diagnostic information using the display diagnostic-information command.

MCAST/6/FIB

Message

MCAST/6/FIB:There is no flow in the FIB entry. (GroupIp=[STRING], SourceIp=[STRING], InVlanId=[ULONG])

Description

There is no data flow corresponding to the FIB entry.

Parameters

Parameter Name Parameter Meaning
GroupIp Indicates the group IP address.
SourceIp Indicates the source IP address.
InVlanId Indicates the inbound VLAN ID.

Possible Causes

Multicast services are interrupted. As a result, there is no data flow corresponding to the FIB entry.

Procedure

  1. Run the display l2-multicast forwarding-table vlan vlan-id command to check the matching Layer 2 multicast forwarding entry has been correctly generated.
  2. Run the display interface brief command to check traffic statistics on the corresponding interfaces are normal.

    If the matching Layer 2 multicast forwarding entry has not been generated or interface traffic statistics are abnormal, join the multicast group again. If multicast services are still interrupted, go to step 3.

  3. Collect log information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel. You can collect diagnostic information using the display diagnostic-information command.

MCAST/4/FIB

Message

MCAST/4/FIB: There is no free FIB index to add a new FIB node. (ForwardingMode=[STRING], ModId=[ULONG], McIndex=[ULONG], DetailInfo=[STRING])

Description

The number of multicast forwarding entries has reached the upper limit, and no more new entries can be created.

Parameters

  • MAC address-based forwarding mode
  • IP address-based forwarding mode
ModId Indicates the index of a multicast forwarding entry.
McIndex Indicates an index block ID.

Possible Causes

The number of multicast forwarding entries has reached the upper limit. Or the resource application failed.

Procedure

  1. Run the display multicast forwarding-table command to check the Layer 3 forwarding table or run the display l2-multicast forwarding-table command to check Layer 2 multicast forwarding table. Determine whether the number of multicast entries exceeds the product specification. For the product specifications, log in to Huawei official website to download the product brochure or product feature list for channel (if your account is unauthorized, contact Huawei local office).

    • If yes, go to step 2.
    • If no, the resource application may have failed. Go to step 3.

  2. Run the reset multicast forwarding-table [ group-address | source-address ] command to delete redundant Layer 3 multicast forwarding entries. Or run the reset igmp-snooping group vlan [ vlan-id ] group-address [ group-address ] command to delete redundant Layer 2 multicast forwarding entries. Then re-configure multicast services. If this log persists, go to step 3.
  3. Collect log information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel. You can collect diagnostic information using the display diagnostic-information command.

MCAST/4/GREPIMFAILURE

Message

MCAST/4/GREPIMFAILURE:The multicast function is unavailable on GRE tunnel which is established through [STRING].

Description

PIM is enabled on the source interface of a GRE tunnel interface, and therefore the multicast function cannot take effect on the GRE tunnel.

Parameters

Possible Causes

In a PIM over GRE scenario, the source interface of a tunnel interface is a Layer 3 physical interface with PIM enabled. Therefore, multicast traffic cannot be forwarded on this tunnel interface.

Procedure

  1. Run the undo pim sm command to disable PIM on the source interface of the tunnel interface.

MCAST/3/IPC

Message

MCAST/3/IPC:Failed to communicate with LPU. (SlotId=[ULONG])

Description

The communication through IPC fails.

Parameters

Parameter Name Parameter Meaning
SlotId Indicates the ID of slot where an interface board is inserted

Possible Causes

The communication through IPC is overloaded, which causes IPC communication failure.

Procedure

  1. Run the display device command to check whether the LPU has registered.

    • If so, go to step 3.
    • If not, go to step 2.

  2. If the LPU has not registered, IPC communication fails, which is normal. This log is informational only, and no action is required.
  3. Collect log information about IPC message sending failures of the LPU, and contact technical support personnel. You can collect diagnostic information using the display diagnostic-information command.

MCAST/3/L3INTF

Message

MCAST/3/L3INTF:Failed to read Vlanif index. (VlanId=[ULONG])

Description

Reading the VLANIF interface index fails during sending of multicast forwarding entries in IP forwarding mode.

Parameters

Possible Causes

The VLANIF index has been deleted.

Procedure

  1. Re-configure the VLANIF interface and services on the interface according to the log information. Then re-configure multicast services. If this log persists, go to step 2.
  2. Collect log information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel. You can collect diagnostic information using the display diagnostic-information command.

MCAST/3/MCAST_ACL

Message

MCAST/3/MCAST_ACL:Failed to operate the ACL which is used to change vlan for multicast packets. (Mvlan=[ULONG], UserVlan=[ULONG], ReturnCode=[ULONG], OperateType=[STRING], AclType=[STRING])

Description

The ACL used to change the VLAN tags of multicast packets failed to be added or deleted.

Parameters

Mvlan Indicates a multicast VLAN ID.
UserVlan Indicates a user VLAN ID.
ReturnCode Indicates the returned error code.
OperateType Indicates the operation type for the ACL, add or delete.
AclType Indicates the ACL type, IPv4 ACL or IPv6 ACL.

Possible Causes

ACL resources have been used up by other services on the device, so no ACL resource is available for the multicast service.

Procedure

  1. Run the display acl resource [ slot slot ] command to view information about ACL resources, including ACL4 and ACL6 resources.
  2. Run the display current-configuration command to check the current configuration on the switch.
  3. Check the services that occupy ACL resources based on ACL resource information and the current configuration as follows, and delete unnecessary services to release ACL resources.

    • Check whether NAC, IPSG, MQC, and ACL-based simplified traffic policy services that occupy a large amount of ACL resources exist on the switch.
    • Check the services that occupy ACL resources based on fields in the ACL resource information. For example, MQC, ACL-based simplified traffic policy, SVF, MPLS, and BFD for VPLS services occupy UDF ACL resources. If a large amount of UDF ACL resources are occupied, check these services first.

  4. If the fault persists, collect log information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel. You can collect diagnostic information using the display diagnostic-information command.

MCAST/3/MCAST_ACL

Message

MCAST/3/MCAST_ACL: Failed to operate the protocol acl. (ReturnCode=[ULONG], OperateType=[STRING], PacketType=[ULONG])

Description

An ACL failed to be delivered or deleted.

Parameters

Parameter Name Parameter Meaning
ReturnCode Indicates the error code. The value 21 indicates that resources have been used up.
OperateType Indicates the operation type:
  • Add: delivers an ACL.
  • Delete: deletes an ACL.
PacketType Indicates the packet type.

Possible Causes

There are not sufficient ACL resources in the system.

Procedure

  1. Check whether there are available ACL resources in the system. If not, check whether any services have unnecessary ACL configurations. If such configurations exist, delete the configurations to release ACL resources.
  2. If there are available ACL resources, collect log information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel. You can collect diagnostic information using the display diagnostic-information command.

MCAST/6/MCAST_ADP

Message

MCAST/3/MCAST_ADP:Failed to set igmp snooping vpls acl with LPU (SlotID = [ULONG]).

Description

The system failed to deliver an IGMP snooping over VPLS ACL to a specified slot.

Parameters

Parameter Name Parameter Meaning
SlotID Indicates the slot ID of an LPU.

Possible Causes

The ACL resources have been used up by other services. Therefore, the IGMP snooping over VPLS ACL cannot obtain resources.

Procedure

  1. Run the display acl resource [ slot slot ] command to view information about ACL resources, including ACL4 and ACL6 resources.
  2. Run the display current-configuration command to check the current configuration on the switch.
  3. Check the services that occupy ACL resources based on ACL resource information and the current configuration as follows, and delete unnecessary services to release ACL resources.

    • Check whether NAC, IPSG, MQC, and ACL-based simplified traffic policy services that occupy a large amount of ACL resources exist on the switch.

Description

A new message failed to be added to the message link in the multicast database (MCDB).

Description

The memory resources are used up.

Description

The next hop index failed to be allocated.

Description

The system failed to obtain the number of cards with physical CSS ports.

Parameters

Possible Causes

  • When the device is creating a multicast entry, it attempts to obtain the number of cards with physical CSS ports for inter-chassis traffic forwarding. The CSS module is counting the number of cards with physical CSS ports at this time. As a result, the device fails to obtain this information due a time sequencing issue. When the CSS module finishes counting the number of cards with physical CSS ports, the device can obtain this information.
  • An error occurs in the CSS module.

Procedure

  1. Collect log information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel. You can collect diagnostic information using the display diagnostic-information command.

MCAST/3/MCAST_MVPN

Message

MCAST/3/MCAST_MVPN:Failed to add the ACL which is used to modify destination MAC for MVPN. (GroupIp=[IPADDR], SourceIp=[IPADDR], ReturnCode=[ULONG])

Description

The system failed to deliver an ACL used to change the destination MAC address in MVPN application.

Parameters

Possible Causes

The device has a large number of ACL-based services, such as traffic policies. These services have used up all ACL resources, so no more ACL can be delivered.

  1. Run the display acl resource command to check whether the ACL resources have been used up.
  2. Run the display current-configuration command to check whether a large number of traffic policies have been configured on the device.
  3. Delete unnecessary ACL configuration.
  4. Check whether the log is still recorded.
  5. If the log is still recorded, collect log information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel. You can collect diagnostic information using the display diagnostic-information command.

MCAST/3/MCAST_MVPN

Message

MCAST/3/MCAST_MVPN: Failed to add the ACL which is used to prevent packets from being sent to CPU for MVPN. (ReturnCode=[ULONG])

Description

The system failed to deliver an ACL used to prevent packets from being sent to the CPU in MVPN application.

Parameters

Description

The system failed to allocate a virtual path (VP) index for multicast VPN.

Parameters

Possible Causes

There is not sufficient VP index resources in the system.

Procedure

  1. Run the display tunnel-info { tunnel-id tunnel-id | all | statistics [ slots ] } command to check whether the number of configured GRE tunnels reaches the maximum value supported by the switch.     • If yes, delete unnecessary GRE tunnels to release VP index resources. Then re-configure the multicast VPN function. If this log persists, go to step 2.
    • If no, go to step 2.

  2. Collect log information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel. You can collect diagnostic information using the display diagnostic-information command.

MCAST/3/MVPN_NEXT_HOP

Message

MCAST/3/MVPN_NEXT_HOP:Failed to allocate nexthop index or failed to add nexthop table. (FailedType=[STRING])

Description

The system failed to allocate a next hop index or issue a next hop entry.

Parameters

Possible Causes

There are a large number of MPLS LSPs or unicast routes in the system, which use up all the next hop resources. Therefore, no next hop resource can be allocated to the multicast VPN function.

Procedure

  1. Run the display mpls ldp lsp or display ip routing-table command to check whether there are a large number of unnecessary MPLS LSPs or unicast routes.
  2. Delete unnecessary MPLS LSPs or unicast routes.

MCAST/3/OVER_MCAST_INDEX

Message

MCAST/3/OVER_MCAST_INDEX:The multicast index is out of the max index range. (Index=[ULONG], MaxIndex=[ULONG])

Description

The multicast index exceeded the maximum value.

Parameters

  1.   2. If the number of multicast forwarding entries exceeds the product specification, run the reset multicast [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name | all-instance ] forwarding-table { group-address [ mask { group-mask | group-mask-length } ] | source-address [ mask { source-mask | source-mask-length } ] | incoming-interface { interface-type interface-number | register } } * command to delete unnecessary Layer 3 multicast forwarding entries or undo l2-multicast static-group [ source-address source-ip-address ] group-address all vlan { all | { vlan-id1 [ to vlan-id2 ] } &<1-10> } command to delete Layer 2 multicast forwarding entries.

MCAST/3/OVER_INDEX

Message

MCAST/3/OVER_INDEX: The IPMC index is out of the index range on the board. (Vlan=[ULONG], Source=[STRING], Group=[STRING], Index=[ULONG], MaxIndex=[ULONG], IndexType=[ULONG])

Description

The IPMC index is beyond the index range on the LPU.

Message

MCAST/3/PORT:Failed to set FIB outgoing port. (GroupIp=[STRING], GroupMac=[STRING], SourceIp=[STRING], InVlanId=[ULONG], IfIndex=[ULONG], Operation=[STRING], Result=[ULONG])

Description

Sending a multicast forwarding entry from the egress to a chip fails.

Parameters

  1. Run the display multicast forwarding-table command to check the Layer 3 forwarding table or run the display l2-multicast forwarding-table command to check Layer 2 multicast forwarding table. Determine whether the number of multicast entries exceeds the product specification. For the product specifications, log in to Huawei official website to download the product brochure or product feature list for channel (if your account is unauthorized, contact Huawei local office).

    • If yes, go to step 2.
    • If no, an invalid interface may have been added or the corresponding VLANIF interface does not exist. Go to step 3.

  2. Run the reset multicast forwarding-table [ group-address | source-address ] command to delete redundant Layer 3 multicast forwarding entries. Or run the reset igmp-snooping group vlan [ vlan-id ] group-address [ group-address ] command to delete redundant Layer 2 multicast forwarding entries. Then re-configure multicast services. If this log persists, go to step 4.
  3. Re-configure the VLANIF interface and services on the interface. Then re-configure multicast services. If this log persists, go to step 4.
  4. Collect log information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel. You can collect diagnostic information using the display diagnostic-information command.

MCAST/6/TTL_ONE

Message

MCAST/6/TTL_ONE: The TTL of the packet is one. (group ip=[STRING], source ip=[STRING], in-VlanID=[ULONG])

Description

The TTL value of a multicast data packet is 1.

Parameters

source ip Indicates the IPv4/IPv6 address of a multicast source.
in-VlanID Indicates the inbound VLAN ID of a multicast data packet.

Possible Causes

The TTL value of a multicast data packet is 1 and will not be forwarded to the next Layer 3 device

Procedure

  1. Determine whether the multicast data packet needs to be forwarded to the next-hop Layer 3 switch based on the current multicast service configuration.

    • If yes, go to step 2.
    • If no, this log message is informational only, and no action is required.

  2. Obtain packet header information in incoming multicast packets on the inbound interface of the multicast data flow, and check whether the TTL value in the packet header is 1.

    • If yes, go to step 3.
    • If no, go to step 4.

  3. Run the state-refresh-ttl ttl-value (IPv4) command or state-refresh-ttl ttl-value (IPv6) command to set a new TTL value for multicast data packets. Request for the multicast data flow again and check whether multicast data packets can be forwarded normally. If not, go to step 4.
  4. Collect log information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel. You can collect diagnostic information using the display diagnostic-information command.

MCAST/3/VLAN

Message

MCAST/3/VLAN:Failed to set VLAN attribute. (VlanId=[ULONG], Attr=[ULONG], Result=[ULONG])

Description

The flag required by multicast is sent to a port.

Possible Causes

The setting may fail due to certain reasons, for example, the VLAN does not exist.

Procedure

  1. Run the display vlan command to check whether the VLAN where an error occurs exist. If not, view the operation log and check whether the log is generated because the VLAN is deleted.
  2. If the log is generated because the undo vlan command is run, this log is normal information caused by the time sequence when the system processes the memory and does not need to be processed.
  3. For other cases, collect log information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel. You can collect diagnostic information using the display diagnostic-information command.
