    • If the address pool was locked, check why it is locked and run the undo lock command in the address pool view to unlock the address pool.
    • If the rate at which DHCPv6 users went online exceeded the maximum value, contact technical support personnel.

Description

The DHCP server fails to assign IP addresses to clients.

Parameters

Reason

Indicates the reason why IP addresses fail to be assigned that include:
  • No idle IP address.
  • Pool is locked.
  • Exception occurred.

UserType

User type of the DHCP client.

Possible Causes

  • The IP addresses in the address pool are used up.
  • The address pool is locked.
  • The system is abnormal.

Procedure

  • Rectify the fault according to the reason:

    • The IP addresses in the address pool are used up, run the network ip-address [ mask { mask | mask-length } ] command in the address pool view or run the ip address ip-address { mask | mask-length } command in the interface view to adjust mask or mask-length to extend the available address range of the address pool.
    • If the address pool is locked, run the undo lock command in the address pool view to unlock the address pool after confirming the reason why the administrator locks the pool.
    • If the system is abnormal, collect log and configuration information, and contact technical support personnel. You can collect diagnostic information using the display diagnostic-information command.

AM/4/IPCONFLICTDTC

    • If there is no entry corresponding to the client's MAC address, go to step 2.

  2. Collect log and configuration information, and contact technical support personnel. You can collect diagnostic information using the display diagnostic-information command.

    • If the configurations are inconsistent, go to step 2.

  • Change the IP address pool configuration on the standby device to be the same as that on the active device.
  • Collect log and configuration information, and contact technical support personnel. You can collect diagnostic information using the display diagnostic-information command.

AM/4/IPRENEWFAIL

Description

The client failed to renew the lease of an IP address.

Parameters

Reason

Indicates the Reason why IP address lease fails to be renewed that include:
  • Bad requested IP address
  • Without the client's lease
  • Pool is locked

UserType

User type of the client.

Possible Causes

  • The IP address whose lease needs to be renewed is different from the address assigned by the address pool to the client.
  • The client has no lease.
  • The address pool is locked.

Procedure

  • Rectify the fault according to the reason:

    • If the IP address whose lease needs to be renewed is different from the address assigned by the address pool to the client, perform the following operations to release the original client address and resend an address application request:

      When a device functions as the DHCP client, run the undo ip address dhcp-alloc command in the interface view, and then run the ip address dhcp-alloc command in the interface view.

      When a device functions as the Bootp client, run the undo ip address dhcp-alloc and ip address bootp-alloc commands in the interface view, and then run the ip address dhcp-alloc and undo ip address bootp-alloc commands in the interface view.

      When a PC functions as the client, commands for releasing an IP address vary with the operating systems. You can use either of the following methods to release an IP address:

      • Run the ipconfig/ release command on the Windows 7 operating system of the PC to release the IP address of the PC.
      • Run the winipcfg/ release command in the MS-DOS of Windows 98 to release the IP address of the PC.
    • If the client has no lease, release the original client address and resend an address application request.
    • If the address pool is locked, run the undo lock command in the address pool view to unlock the address pool after confirming the reason why the administrator locks the pool.

AM/4/PREFALLOCFAIL

Description

In free mobility scenarios, an IP address in the IP address pool on the device failed to be statically bound to or unbound from a user's MAC address based on the XML file delivered by the controller.

Parameters

Parameter Name Parameter Meaning
Reason Cause of the failure to statically bind or unbind IP and MAC addresses. Possible causes can be classified into XML packet error, abnormal device status, and incorrect configuration as follows:
  • XML packet error
    • Incorrect packet format: The packet format is incorrect.

    • Attribute unknow: The packet contains unknown attributes.

    • No interface address pool: The interface address pool name delivered by the controller does not exist on the device.
    • IP status error: The IP address to be bound is in use or conflicts with another device's IP address.
    • Interface not exist: The interface does not exist.
    • Invalid MAC address: The format of the MAC address to be bound is invalid.
    • Invalid IP address: The format of the IP address to be bound is invalid.
Operation Operation, corresponding IP address pool name, and IP and MAC addresses delivered by the controller. The operation includes:
  • Add: static binding
  • Delete: unbinding
NOTE:
When the failure cause is XML packet error or abnormal device status, the device cannot parse information in the XML packet. As a result, the IP address pool name, IP address, and MAC address are not recorded in the log.

Possible Causes

In free mobility scenarios, an IP address in the IP address pool fails to be statically bound to a MAC address based on the XML file delivered by the controller. For details about the cause, see parameter meanings listed in the preceding table.

Procedure

  • If the failure cause is XML packet error, obtain the packet header to check whether the packets are valid.
  • If the failure cause is abnormal device status, check the device status.
  • If the failure cause is incorrect configuration, check the configuration parameters on the controller.
