Message

ADP_MSTP/5/ADD_BINDVLAN: These VLAN [STRING] bind instance [ULONG], [STRING].

Description

The VLAN is bound to the MSTI.

Message

ADP_MSTP/5/RPC_FAIL: Failed to send RPC message to slot [STRING].

Description

Failed to send an RPC message.

Parameters

Possible Causes

RPC has a problem.

Procedure

  1. Send the RPC message again.
    1. If the message is sent successfully, go to step 3.
    2. If the message fails to be sent, go to step 2.

MSTP/4/BPDU_PROTECTION

Message

MSTP/4/BPDU_PROTECTION:This edged-port [port-name] that enabled BPDU-Protection will be shutdown, because it received BPDU packet!

Description

The edge port that was enabled with the BPDU protection function received a BPDU. Then the port was shut down.

Parameters

Possible Causes

The edge port that was enabled with the BPDU protection received the BPDU.

Procedure

  • Check whether the BPDU is attacked to decide whether to restore the port status to be Up.

Message

MSTP/4/EDGE_PORT:Edged-port [port-name] received BPDU packet, then the active state of the edged-port will be disabled!

Description

After an edge port received a BPDU, the port turned to inactive.

Parameters

Possible Causes

The edge port received the BPDU.

Procedure

  • Run the stp edged-port enable command in the interface view to reconfigure the status of the edge port.

MSTP/4/LOOPBACK_DETECTED

Message

MSTP/4/LOOPBACK_DETECTED:The port [port-name] was blocked because it received the BPDU packets sent by itself.

Description

STP detected a self loop when an interface received the BPDUs sent by itself.

Parameters

port-name Name of the port where loopback detection is enabled

Possible Causes

An STP-capable interface received BPDUs with the designated bridge ID as the local bridge ID and the designated interface ID as the local interface ID, indicating that a self loop occurs.

Procedure

  1. Run the display current-configuration interface interface-name command to check whether the interface generating this alarm has been configured with the loopback function.

    • If so, go to Step 4.
    • If not, go to Step 2.

  2. Check whether there is a loop formed by hubs and devices that are connected to the interface.

    • If so, go to Step 5.
    • If not, go to Step 3.

  3. Collect log information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel.
  4. Run the undo loopback command in the interface view to delete the local loopback configuration.
  5. Remove the self-loop network cable from the hub to resolve the problem.

MSTP/4/LOOP_GUARD

Message

MSTP/4/LOOP_GUARD:MSTP process [process-id] Instance[instance-id]'s LOOP-Protection port [port-name] did not receive message in prescriptive time!

Description

The port that was enabled with the loop protection function in the instance did not receive a BPDU within the specified period.

Parameters

[process-id] indicates the ID of an MSTP instance.
[instance-id] indicates the ID of an instance.
[port-name] indicates the port enabled with the loop protection function.

Possible Causes

The loop protection port did not receive the BPDU within the specified period.

Procedure

  1. Find out the reason why the BPDU is not received.

MSTP/3/PACKET_ERR_COMPLIAN

Message

MSTP/3/PACKET_ERR_COMPLIAN:The port compliance protocol type of the packet received by MSTP from the port [port-name] is invalid.

Description

The MSTP port received a BPDU with an unknown format.

Parameters

Parameter Name Parameter Meaning
[port-name] indicates the name of a port.

Possible Causes

The MSTP module received an invalid BPDU. This BPDU might be an attack BPDU or a BPDU with the private MSTP format of a non-Huawei device.

Procedure

  1. Use a tool to get the received invalid BPDU.
  2. Query and record the information about the remote end, including the manufacturer, version, and configuration.

    • If a Huawei device is used, run the display version and display interface commands or the display current-configuration command.
    • If a non-Huawei device is used, run the related commands provided by the manufacturer to obtain information on the device.

  3. If the packet received by MSTP was invalid and hence the STP status was wrong, loops may occur at Layer 2. You are advised to shut down the interface to prevent broadcast storms. To view STP status and check whether loops occur, run the display stp brief command. After confirming that loops are removed, run the undo shutdown command to enable the interface.
  4. Report the statistics on error packets and contact technical support personnel for further analysis.

MSTP/6/RECEIVE_MSTITC

Message

MSTP/6/RECEIVE_MSTITC:MSTP received BPDU with TC, MSTP process [process-id] instance [instance-id], port name is [port-name]. (VlanId=[VlanId], SrcMAC=[SrcMAC])

Description

The MSTP MSTI received the BPDU with a TC flag.

The device was no longer the root bridge in the instance.

Message

MSTP/4/SET_PORT_DISCARDING:In MSTP process [process-id] instance [instance-id], MSTP set port [port-name] state as discarding.

Description

The MSTP module set the status of the port [port-name] in instance [instance-id] of the process [process-id] to Discarding.
