Path Jitter Test

Path Jitter Test

The UDP jitter test measures delay and jitter on the path from the source to the destination, but cannot determine the failure point on the network. When jitter is too high, the path jitter test can determine the hop that causes the high jitter.

The NQA path jitter test obtains the hop-by-hop IP addresses from the source to the destination by initiating a trace test, and then carries out an ICMP jitter test from the source to obtain the jitter value of each hop along the path.

The process of a path jitter test is as follows:

  1. The source (SwitchA) initiates a trace test to the destination (SwitchC) to obtain the IP address of each hop along the path.

  2. The source initiates an ICMP jitter test to obtain the jitter value of each hop along the path to the destination.

Path jitter test results and historical records are stored in test instances. You can run commands to view the path jitter test results and historical records.
