(Optional) Setting the Maximum Number of VRRP Groups

(Optional) Setting the Maximum Number of VRRP Groups

Context

By default, the device supports a maximum of 64 VRRP groups. When more than 64 VRRP groups need to be configured, run the set vrrp max-group-number max-group-number command to specify the maximum of VRRP groups.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run set vrrp max-group-number max-group-number

The maximum number of VRRP groups is set.

By default, the device supports a maximum of 64 VRRP groups.

Follow-up Procedure

When more than 64 VRRP groups are configured, to reduce the frequency of sending VRRP Advertisement packets and the impact of VRRP Advertisement packets on network bandwidth and CPU performance, perform either of the following operations as prompted:

  • Increase the interval at which VRRP Advertisement packets are sent and the CPCAR of VRRP Advertisement packets.

    1. Run the vrrp vrid virtual-router-id timer advertise advertise-interval command to increase the interval at which VRRP Advertisement packets are sent for each VRRP group. For details, see (Optional) Configuring VRRP Time Parameters.
    2. Increase the CPCAR of VRRP Advertisement packets. Improper CPCAR settings will affect services on your network. If you need to adjust CPCAR settings, contact technical support personnel for help.
  • Configure mVRRP.

For details on how to configure mVRRP, see Configuring an mVRRP Group.
