Example for Configuring MAD in Relay Mode
Example for Configuring MAD in Relay Mode
Networking Requirements
In Figure 3-39, SwitchA and SwitchB set up a CSS and connect to upstream and downstream devices through Eth-Trunks.
If a CSS splits due to a CSS link failure, the network has two CSS systems with conflicting configurations. To avoid this situation, configure the MAD function in the CSS. This function minimizes the impact of a CSS split on the network.
Figure 3-39 MAD in relay mode
Configuration Roadmap
The configuration roadmap is as follows:
Configure SwitchC as the relay agent and configure MAD in relay mode on Eth-Trunk member ports connected to SwitchC.
On SwitchC, configure the MAD relay function so that MAD packets can be forwarded through the Eth-Trunk.
Procedure
In the CSS, configure MAD in relay mode for the Eth-Trunk.
If no services are configured in the CSS after the MAD configuration is complete, manually trigger a CSS split to verify whether the MAD function has been configured successfully.
Check information about all the Up ports in the CSS. Based on the displayed information, verify the MAD function after the CSS splits.

Make the CSS split by shutting down all CSS member ports or removing all cluster cables. (The following procedure shuts down all the CSS member ports in a CSS that is set up in service port connection mode.)
