Setting the Minimum Interval for Re-enabling an Interface

Setting the Minimum Interval for Re-enabling an Interface

Context

In special scenarios, a configuration (for example, parameter modification) cannot immediately take effect on an interface. You need to run the shutdown and undo shutdown commands to re-enable the interface for the configuration to take effect.

  • To shorten the waiting time, you can set the minimum interval for re-enabling the interface to a small value. For example, if you set the minimum interval for re-enabling the interface to 0 seconds, you can consecutively run the shutdown and undo shutdown commands without waiting.
  • To avoid frequent Up/Down transitions caused by manual operations, you can set the minimum interval for re-enabling the interface to a large value. For example, the administrator needs to shut down an interface to check route changes. To prevent other users from enabling the interface, the administrator can set the minimum interval for re-enabling the interface to a large value.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run shutdown interval interval-value

The minimum interval for re-enabling the interface is set.

By default, the minimum interval for re-enabling an interface is 0 seconds.
