Upstream Interface in Multicast Forwarding Entries Is Incorrect

Upstream Interface in Multicast Forwarding Entries Is Incorrect

Fault Description

After multicast routing configuration is complete, Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) routing entries are created. However, the upstream interface in multicast forwarding entries is incorrect, and multicast data cannot be sent to user network segments.

  1. Run the display multicast forwarding-table command to check whether the upstream interface in multicast forwarding entries is a loopback interface.

If the upstream interface is a loopback interface, a possible reason is that the source IP address of multicast data packets is the same as a VLANIF interface address on the device. In this case, change the multicast source address or the VLANIF interface address. Ensure that the two IP addresses are different but remain on the same network segment.
