(Optional) Configuring a Static Router Port


A router port is the port that a Layer 2 device uses to receive multicast protocol packets from the upstream Layer 3 multicast router or Layer 3 switch. The router port forwards packets received from the upstream device to group member ports. After MLD snooping is enabled in a VLAN, all interfaces in the VLAN learn multicast protocols packets by default. When an interface receives an MLD Query or PIM hello message, it becomes a dynamic router port. A dynamic router port has an aging timer.

To enable hosts to always receive multicast packets from an interface, configure the interface as a static router port. Static router ports will never age. You can use the undo command to delete static router ports.


  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run interface interface-type interface-number

    The interface view is displayed.

  3. (Optional) Run undo mld-snooping router-learning vlan { { vlan-id1 [ to vlan-id2 ] } &<1-10> | all }

    Dynamic learning of router ports is disabled.

    By default, dynamic learning of router ports is enabled.

  4. Run mld-snooping static-router-port vlan vlan-id

    An interface is configured as a static router port.
