Configuring a Multicast Group Policy

Configuring a Multicast Group Policy

Context

A multicast group policy determines which multicast groups the user hosts in a VLAN can join, and applies only to dynamic multicast groups. Before configuring a multicast group policy, create an access control list (ACL) and define rules. For details about ACL configuration, see ACL Configuration in the S7700 and S9700 V200R013C00 Configuration Guide - Security.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Use either of the following methods to configure a multicast group policy:

    • Configure a multicast group policy in a VLAN.
      1. Run the vlan vlan-id command to enter the VLAN view.

      2. Run the mld-snooping group-policy acl6-number [ version mld-version ] [ default-permit ] command to configure a multicast group policy in the VLAN. This prevents user hosts in the VLAN from joining specified multicast groups.

    • Configure a multicast group policy on an interface.
      1. Run the interface interface-type interface-number command to enter the interface view.

      2. Run the mld-snooping group-policy acl6-number vlan vlan-id [ version mld-version ] [ default-permit ] command to configure a multicast group policy on the interface. This prevents user hosts in the specified VLAN from joining specified multicast groups.

By default, user hosts in a VLAN can join any multicast groups. If the MLD version is not specified for a multicast group policy, the switch applies the policy to all the received MLD packets regardless of version.

If you configure multicast group policies for the same VLAN in the interface view and VLAN view, the system first uses the policy configured in the interface view and then the policy configured in the VLAN view to determine the groups that user hosts can join.

    NOTE:
When configuring an ACL to be referenced by a multicast group policy in a VLAN, pay attention to the following points:
    • If the default-permit keyword is not specified in the multicast group policy configuration command, specify the permit keyword in the rule command to allow hosts in the VLAN to join the specified groups.
    • If the default-permit keyword is specified in the multicast group policy configuration command, specify the deny keyword in the rule command to prevent hosts in the VLAN from joining the specified groups.
