Licensing Requirements

DHCPv6 requires that the device should support IPv6. The IPv6 function is controlled by a license. By default, the IPv6 function is disabled on a new device. To use the IPv6 function, apply for and purchase the license from the device supplier.

Feature Limitations

Wireless users do not support DHCPv6.

In V200R010C00 and later versions, L3 sub-interfaces support the DHCPv6 function.

In V200R011C10 and later versions, the VLANIF interface of a super-VLAN on a switch supports the DHCPv6 function.

In V200R013C00 and later versions, Layer 3 VXLAN gateways support the DHCPv6 relay function. VBDIF interfaces functioning as gateways on distributed gateway devices use the same IPv6 address. If Layer 3 VXLAN gateways are distributed gateways and the IPv6 address is used to communicate with the server, the response packets from the server are forwarded to the incorrect distributed gateways (devices that do not send DHCPv6 request packets). To resolve this issue, you need to run the dhcpv6 relay source-interface Loopback interface-number command on each distributed gateway to specify the IPv6 address of the loopback interface as the source IPv6 address of the DHCPv6 relayed packets for ensuring that response packets from the server can be forwarded to the correct distributed gateways.
