Configuring the ARP Learning Priority

Context

ARP learning priorities of VLANIF interfaces are classified as high and low. By default, the ARP learning priority of a VLANIF interface is low.

If the ARP resources of a card are limited, you can configure a high ARP learning priority for VLANIF interfaces that carry important services and reserve ARP resources for VLANIF interfaces with a high priority. When the remaining ARP resources of a card are less than or equals the number of reserved ARP entries, only VLANIF interfaces with a high priority can deliver ARP entries.

Procedure

  1. Configure the number of reserved ARP entries.

    1. Run system-view

      The system view is displayed.

    2. Run assign arp reserved number number-value

      The number of reserved ARP entries for all cards is configured.

      By default, the number of reserved ARP entries is 0.

  2. Set the ARP learning priority to high.

    1. Run vlan batch { vlan-id1 [ to vlan-id2 ] } &<1-10>

      VLANs are created in batches.

    2. Run interface vlanif vlan-id

      A VLANIF interface is created and the VLANIF interface view is displayed.

      If a VLANIF interface already exists, you can directly enter the view of the VLANIF interface.
    3. Run arp learning priority high

      The ARP learning priority of the VLANIF interface is set to high.

      By default, the ARP learning priority of a VLANIF interface is low.
